  1. I wanted to share this... I'm no kid (42) but I started this off wayyyyyyyy too fast and was too impulsive and not very patient. I bought before I looked and/or asked questions. I ended up getting junk or the wrong stuff. So... I have decided to get my base costume down (soft parts, boots, blaster, armor, and helmet) - as close as possible without making myself crazy or broke! I'm going to do my best to get it right from the get-go, but I know that there will be little bits and pieces required down the road. I have to keep reminding myself that there is no hurry or race. I am going to get the costume done to where I am happy, take some pics, enjoy the costume and experience, and apply for the 501st - this is phase 1 for me. I do plan to apply for Lancer, but I have a lot of learning and growing to do before I can go to that level. You are on the way and making great progress, plus your weapon skills are awesome. Hang in there man...it's coming together! I'm sure you know this but BSN has some of the best people, who have the very best handle on this costume (witness, MC, and others)!
  2. Thanks! I love that look; it's pure and seems genuine. Now we need some grenades for the Rebel Scum!
  3. Dude, that looks amazing to me. I love your weathering skillz brotha...! Nice job. There is some great art on this link but think this is mostly an interpretation. Imperial Scout Trooper One of the pics looks like an e-11. I kind of like that...a modified e-11, tricked out, and battle worn.
  4. Getting there man! I have an inexpensive black flight suit that is my coat/pant size; def get something similar. Flight suits are typically more baggy but good to start, that's what I'm doing for now. I will get a better, more racing style suit down the road. Take your time and be patient.
  5. Here's the finished product: Thanks for the tip on weathering. It took me a bit on another blaster but I am happy.
  6. I picked mine up from a prop seller who is not on ebay. I do a lot of ebay-ing but found this shop while doing a search. It came to me in 2 pieces - gun and scope, with a little pre-sanding and filling already completed. I sanded the rest and base coated it with some red-oxide primer (that always works for my guitars and stuff...). Then I hit it with several coats of flat black Krylon. It also weighs a ton, but I like the feel of it. I have dropped it already, but that just gave it more character! Primed: Painted:
  7. Great explanation. I'm going to trick mine out this weekend. The base blaster, primer, and finished black coat are done. Will post a pic this weekend. Thanks again and nice job on yours.
  8. Ah...good idea with the sock. I will try that one with some sort of grey metallic. Thanks!
  9. Good luck! I am attempting a build too.
  10. Wow, that looks pretty good. How did you do the weathering? Mine is done except for that part. This material is more like a rock, than a typical resin cast. Very heavy...
  11. I'm right behind you. I took the leap this morning and noticed that one other person has as well. It must be you! Let me know how it turns out.
  12. I just ordered a pair. Thanks for the great review and pics!
  13. Looking good! I got a resin kit online (not on ebay) but it's a heavier, original cast. I'm doing the sanding, priming and painting now. Will post pics when complete.
