Thanks for the replies...one more related question then. And its a super newb question....but I am one! Lol. What defines a "Canon event" ? Is that pretty much Garrison discretion, or....? Sorry. Just don't want to have to worry about stashing a 5 foot rifle somewhere cause I didn't know...

So going over lots of old threads here, and the CRL, I think I've got the following down: A canon scout's only weapon is the holdout blaster. At a CANON event (which is something put on by LFL or other major entity, right?) only the holdout may be carried. Now, comes the questions... Sniper rifle. In the official CRL, they mention the DLT-19 as an optional weapon. This means that one could carry a DLT-19 and it would count as official troop, right? I get that it's not canon, and some don't like the idea, but it's in the CRL.... Now, I'm not gonna go all wonky and put on a pauldron, but I do like the DLT. I was a designated marksman in the Army, and have always had a thing for snipers. It was one of the reasons I made a Scout, actually. Basically, can a Scout carry a DLT and it still be an official troop? Thanks folks!

Thanks for the tips! I ended up re-forming the pieces a little and then covering the gap with elastic, as per what the others do. Kind of a joint solution. Thanks again to all who helped.

Great job, bro!!!! Awesome to hear another Lancer join the ranks!

What they said. Lots of awesome information here. But you may have to wait a long time for a full set that fits you. I joined in Nov of last year, and still have not seen a full set that would fit me. Lots of awesome info here, and its not hard at all to make what you need. Welcome

Looking to join, questions about first armor set
c0wboi replied to a topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Jeff, that is right on. Well all except the blaster. The hold out blaster IS required for completion. I'm a great example of no experience/no time. I have 3 kids, work 50 plus hours a week, and wanted to join. Never done ANY costuming before at all. I spent a few weeks here; researching, reading, asking questions..... I bought almost everything pre- made. It cost more in money, but made up for it in time. Once I had the raw armor kit in hand (SC, if you were wondering) I would guesstimate 16 to 18 hours of work. Fitting, sanding, painting, etc. Not too shabby! Good luck and we are here if you need us! -
Headed to work now, will post some when I get home in about 12 hours....

Wow...So I have SC armor, and am finally close to being done. After getting everything on, I have noticed a HUGE gap between front and rear chest plates. The tank is parallel, and everything is positioned right. However, I have about 3 inches between the front and back shoulder pieces. I see where MC armor has some kind of cloth you can use to act as a cover, as it were. But this is definately too big for that... I was going to trim a few pieces of ABS plastic, but velcro on the bottom of it, and attach it in the gap. Any other thoughts? And yes, I DO have a very large chest. Roughly 46" too much benchpress in high school, I guess....

Very great news, tempered with some sadness.I'm sure she is proud of you, and you and your family are in my prayers.

Help Identifying and Cleaning up some Armor I got.
c0wboi replied to a topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Thats a very good idea. The job will provide the income to get the funds needed. This sure isn't an expensive hobby!! However, if LW ever sells some of his AWESOME lids, then I will be glad to sell you my KS on the cheap. -
That's exactly what I did. My KS helmet is awesome, and highly worth it. I just ordered my SC armor as well!
-
Thanks for the heads up!!!
-
Great work!! I'm about to order SC myself, and I've been watching this with interest. Plan on using this for guidance. Keep us posted!

That looks awesome dude!!!

I've got a KS helmet shipping any day now. If we can get a part number, or even someone here who wants to sell a set, I'd be very happy.

Looks awesome! I just received a HF DL-19 that I commissioned a few weeks ago. I plan on scooping it and using it for a sniper rifle. Can't wait to show it off!
-
I shall let you know when it arrives! Today was the start of week 7 since I commissioned it. I'm having them assemble it, so that's the extra time....

Welcome aboard!! Send a PM to Bluecyclone, the detachment armorer. He will give you all the info you need. Please only refer to builders by their initials, this will be covered in the info that Bluecyclone sends you. As to best?? That's a matter of conjecture. I plan on getting SC armor, as there is a lot of promise there. However, I really think that KS helmets are the best for the money. Well, until LW starts producing his. It's not an easy question, no easy answer. I lurked here and read, researched and read some more before I even joined. It was probably a month after I joined that I finally commissioned a lid. KS, if you'd like to know. I still haven't commissioned my armor, as I'm not quite 100 percent sure. Read, look at pics, and talk to your local garrison. Hopefully they have some scouts who you can look at! Welcome!

Plus one million!!!! I would gladly pay what KS is asking, if not more for one of these beauties!!! Stunning! Put me on the list too.
-
Thank you! I plan on ordering some SC here soon, so that is awesome!

KS Visor Bolt Cover Mod Question
c0wboi replied to THAWK819's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I've got a KS lid on order, and was just about to ask this question. Thanks from me, too! BSN rocks -
You will NOT be sorry. AWESOME gloves, and well worth every penny.
-
Cheap? No, I knew better. I just didn't realize how much cool stuff there is! The bits and pieces of detail work is actually awesome. I just didn't see things like the helmet padding, the voice units.....it blows TK stuff away. One thing at a time, right?
-
Please do! That stuff looks awesome. My God... no one tell my wife how much all this costs. Ok?
