Congrats Mike, well deserved!!

Too funny on the undersuit, but it happens! The first couple times I trooped with my Biker Scout outfit I had the pouches on backwards .

PM sent with some basic information. Reach out to bluecyclone for more info, he's the man.

I can vouch for SC armor as well. It's easy to put together and as previously mentioned the owner is very open to feedback and helps when needed. I went with the MLCv3 bucket over KS, but it's really to each their own. Both are great . I would also recommend the MC snout piece. I put that on my MLCv3 helmet and it looks awesome! Don't forget to order some cotton webbing as well if you go the SC armor route and want to achieve Lancer status. Currently, I'm in the process of making the switch from nylon to cotton (once my order comes in) and wish I had just done that to start with. You'll either want to go white or natural depending on the color of your pouches when that time comes. Chex has some great information on that entire process that I followed.

I'm with J and actually followed his example. I went with the Wendy ZAP pads for my MLCv3 and they have been great, don't even need the chin strap that came with the bucket.

I've seen pics with and without, but I will say that all of the build progressions I looked at, when I was putting together my SC kit, had the white circle. I figured better safe than sorry, especially as I work towards Lancer sometime this year. Coming along nicely!

Whoops, sorry Mike! For some reason I thought you had MC, my bad.

I have SC armor, but I can tell you that I used "Loctite Plastic Epoxy" 7 min for my assembly. Chex I know has MC armor and used something else, he could probably tell you better in regards to his build. For my upcoming Clone armor (Kev kit) I am using "Zap-A-Gap Medium CA+" as it was what Kev used for his build.

Looking good, keep up the progress! Brings back memories of when I got my SC kit .

I liked Andry's take with the foam, so I did a combo with foam and magnets as he did and it holds it in nicely. I used Velcro to hold the foam to the inside of the holster (self-adhesive kind of Velcro) so I could replace the foam easily, should something happen. Holster with Foam Holster with Foam and Pistol

I absolutely agree with Andry on the snout piece, MC makes a great one (I have one on my MLC bucket and it fits like a glove).

As Robert mentioned, Bluecyclone is your guy for more information. As David said, the most popular two out there are KS or MLC. I own a MLC v3 myself and love it. If you have any questions regarding the helmet send me a PM and I can give you an idea of assembly.

Happy New Year to all!

As Mike has said, it's more about how tight the bolts are holding the visor to the rest of the bucket than anything. For me, I cut the 3M plastic bolts and only used the look of the end cap more than anything. I epoxied those to the existing metal bolts that came w/ my MLC v3.
-
I'm with you Mike, this velcro is just not cutting it. I tried using some magnets, but they were so powerful that they pulled themselves from their epoxy. I think I'll try the rare earth magnet route if they're a bit less powerful .

Looks good! I think that the TD needs to be flipped around the other way, but other than that it came out great .

My SC armor just about finished

Front and back plate newbie question
Wickedfluxx replied to mondas42's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I didn't make the slots bigger on my SC armor. Reason being it added some tightness where I could totally bypass the need for Velcro (although I sewed some on anyways). Now, I simply pull on the elastic to the level of tightness that feels comfortable and go. -
trimming the belt and using velcro instead of rivits
Wickedfluxx replied to a topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Definitely use rivets, much more secure. I would also recommend using washers on both sides of the rivet. I used toothed washers on the sides, of the rivets, that connected directly to the webbing so that it was a little more secure fit. Flat washers I used on the sides, of the rivets, that connected directly to the ABS plastic. -
Thanks Chex! I also found this link in the archive... http://www.starwarshelmets.com/star_wars_h...oper_helmet.htm Gave me a good idea as well.
