Wow... Everytime I see one of those, it blows my mind.

I used cotton for all of the webbing on my belt. Chex/Mike pointed me towards the following site for it because the JoAnn around my area didn't have any. Jontay http://store.jontay.com/webbing.aspx You'll want to go with either "Natural" or "White" for the color, which depends on your pouches. Shipping was fast and I went with both sizes that the nylon webbing from the SC kit came with. Mike, am I missing anything there?

It's in the Lancer requirements and is listed as follows... III. SOFT ARMOR 2. A black vest with padded, ribbed biceps worn over the under suit, but under the torso armor. LSFU makes these and are affectionately labeled as 'flak vests'.

I'm not a Lancer, yet, so I can't speak directly to what I have done and having it pass. I will say that, as Mike referenced, check the Lancer guidelines, keep to those and you'll be fine. Personally, I used 2 rivets (with washers) to connect each side of the 3 pieces of the belt together as well as 2 rivets (with washers) to connect each side of the webbing to the plastic sections of the belt. I then painted the rivets and washers white to blend into the belt's overall color. What will effect Lancer status is if you use the nylon webbing that comes with the standard SC kit or get some cotton webbing to replace the nylon. Cotton is needed for Lancer spec over nylon. No worries Mike, got them here if you need them .

Here are some of my pics up on Flickr... http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfluxx/502880...157624575883263 http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfluxx/504144...157624575883263 http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfluxx/504144...157624575883263 http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfluxx/504207...157624575883263 I have a MLCv3 bucket with a snout piece from MonCal. There's a whole set of pics up there around my Biker Scout, so feel free to check them out .

Check the "Gallery" section up top under "Biker Scout Reference Image Gallery" --> "Screen Caps". Here's a link to one of the reference pictures... http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?auto...=si&img=374 I have the SC armor myself and I didn't do anything out of the ordinary for attaching the tank to the back armor in terms of gap spacing. It already does a good job of showing the gap out of the box, in my opinion.

I had the same question during my build . Here's the thread from that conversation, including Witness's response and nice take on mounting with 2 rivets and no epoxy. In the end, I went with epoxy for the top and the rivet that is needed on the bottom. The rivet that is required on the top is simply holding my tank topper on and that's it. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?show...;hl=attach+hump Let me know if you need some more clarification, but honestly either way is acceptable as long as you have the rivets on the top and bottom from a look standpoint.

Looking good and sounds like you have a nice handle on what steps you need to take to keep moving ahead. For padding, I simply used weatherstripping that I purchased at my local Home Depot. I cut them in such a way that I could add or remove according to what I was holding in my pouches at the time (i.e. cell phone, wallet, etc.).

I actually have a spare set that I'm not using if you need them. For SC armor, you'll need to trim them down a little, but it's definitely doable. I live in Upstate NY as well, near Albany, so shipping shouldn't be bad or I may even be able to drop them off depending on where in CT you live. I visit my brother now and then in Ridgefield, CT as well as family on my wife's side in Salem, CT.

I went SC armor with a MLCv3 bucket and it couldn't have been easier. I'm happy with my choices as it helped me cut my teeth into costume making and built my confidence up enough to go Clone as my next outfit. Once I get weathering down to the point where I feel comfortable on my Clone, I'll be going back to weather my TB .

I'm 5'11" and 160-165, again SC works for me well. Pretty versatile armor.

Had the same problem and went with a combination of padding and Velcro. Padding on the the inside of the recessed "boxes" on each hip and Velcro on the TD to hold it in place on the back.

I believe that shadowmantis ran into this same issue with his MC armor as well... http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?show...20&start=20 I'm sure that some Lancers have ideas as well, in terms of meeting spec, but that thread may help to give you some ideas initially. -
I wear a large pair of these and they fit perfectly .

I too have SC armor and bought white duck cloth at Jo-Ann Fabrics to cover the gap between the front and back pieces of the chest armor. I had Velcro sewn on each side and cut a slit in-between to allow for the t-strap to go through for the shoulder pieces. http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfluxx/522976...157624575883263 http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfluxx/522916...157624575883263 http://www.flickr.com/photos/wfluxx/522916...157624575883263 Recently I noticed that depending on how I wore the chest armor, the pieces would overlap at the gap creating a visibly annoying "hump" to show. I fixed that by cutting a couple pieces of adhesive Velcro and running it over the top of each piece right where they met. I then re-attached my duck cloth pieces and eliminated that hump altogether .

Dremel would be what I would use. Also, I would recommend painting the inside of the helmet black as well. That will help with the black inside the ears (should lighting hit it just right) as well as helping to keep your eyes from possibly showing through the lens (depending on the shade that you go with).

Congrats!!

my new MC Helmet... what to do next....

Looks great! I used Wendy ZAP pads to hold the bucket on my head, but it's really about comfort and stability in my opinion; go with what works for both. I also have a shade 5 lens which is great for sunny days and still works well for indoor activities as well. The plate you referenced is indeed a chin strap plate. I do not use the one that came with my bucket as the ZAP pads hold it in place well enough where it is not needed. One "upgrade" you may want to look at is how to keep the visor shut so it doesn't flap open and closed as you're looking up and down. I have used both velcro and magnets for this and have found that magnets work best. I have seen fans installed as well as headsets tied back to a small amp for mimicking the voices of the Biker Scouts from the movie. Personally, I have not gone either of these routes yet. -
I went with this one, which was a bit more expensive than the others referenced here. I would probably go with another recommendation due to cost, but thought I would post regardless to give you an idea . It was a shade 5. http://www.criticaltool.com/willson-willso...s-11390068.html

Fixable for sure, just a pain when it slows you down in your build.

Working on mine once the cotton webbing comes in .

Is that a Speeder Bike in your pocket, or... ?
