I've just double checked on Jez's web site and could not see any black Altmann's helmets you all may be right when you say it looks like a KS, also remember the ebay seller not wanting to send me better photo's of the lid, starting to smell a rat me thinks
-
hi guys, well over a month ago I lost the bid on a black Altmanns scout helmet, was totally gutted as I missed by a few quid anyway I've not seen one of these before and saved the pics from the ebay auction and thought I'd share my finding with you all I've emailed Jez to see if he knows anymore info on these Altmann Scout Helmets

hi jasmine33, good progress being made on your replica scout costume, only one this is the shoulder bells need to be tweaked/trimmed a little i.e rounded off see screen grabs below:

guys just wanted too point out that the image below from the film has been handed by Lucas..... the give away is the helmet - tube stripes and stripes on tank did'nt want anyone getting confused if they handed the thermal det detail on some of the scout costumes.... lucas just handed the footage taken which he did quite a bit in all the films

have to agree with John the MC armour looks allot better but the SC armour was my only choice of armour at the time I built my costume several years ago. I still have the SC armour in the loft and for a new person joining the 501st its a good kit as SC where also helpful during my build. I've always wanted to do a version 2 of my scout costume dreaded upgrades, will be watching how you get on John . Don Jarr's tank top and greables look good also

EFX to make a Biker Scout helmet from the original molds
ukscout replied to lonewolf's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
fingers crossed jeff that this won't happen the TB helmet, I think the x-wing helmet took a couple of days too sell out. I think we may be in for a long wait until this lid is in development going on past expierance of past EFX products. I hope they don't do it out of fiber glass, this would stop me from buying a EFX TB lid. -
thanks for the comments guys, apologies for the lack of new images against my DP and MLC v1 I trying too finish off some private work before xmas. But I do have 2wks off at xmas and should be able to do these photo's, but in the mean time if anyone needs a particular pic of the helmet PLMK

Hi guys, Well after a long think I'm going to leave the helmet in it's original condition due to the history of the helmet and will do a screen accurate helmet in the new year i.e the LW helmet I've not had chance too take any photo's but below are the pics from the ebay page I've kept. Not owning a Altman helmet before the construction is very solid, the paint finish is good too considering that the helmet was made in 1996. The rear decals are ok and the applied position bugs me a bit Didn't realise that the dome and back cap are separate and have been glued together, I thought that this was produced as 1 part. The visor dose not fully open like on the DP, LW and MLC helmet The lens colour used is similar to the screen used helmet The snout detail seems to be poorly made by Altman which is a shame considering that this helmet was one of the best replica helmets he produced. The Snout part has a number of fins have not been cast correctly or where broken when pulled out of the mould. Also I was hoping to get my hands on a rare black (stealth) Altman TB helmet but got out bid twice on too seporate auctions on ebay for it.....more info coming soon!!!

I'm not decided if I should do some minor upgrades to the helmet or keep it the way it is? It's feels and looks better than DP helmets but dose not fully open like the DP & MLC lids I have in my collection the helmet is going to be a displayed in my sons room and not trooped in I've retired from trooping some years ago and have concentrated my efforts on my poster and prop collection over the years

Today I've just received in my post my first Altman Helmet to add to my collection of scouts helmets. I currently own a DP & a unfinished MLC v1.0, after several years being out bid on ebay I've managed to purchase one from a UK forum member. Upon my quick look at work the snout detail looks ok but not screen accurate, grey decals look too dark etc... The question is should I alter the helmet i.e make it more screen accurate by upgrading parts and decals? also would this de-value the helmet? I'll post pics soon of all the helmets

EFX to make a Biker Scout helmet from the original molds
ukscout replied to lonewolf's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
well the EFX x-wing helmets where made from fibergalss, if EFX make the scout helmet using the same method as the originals i.e vac formed plastic these will take less man hours to make. if these sell for around $600-$800 I would be willing to by one -

EFX to make a Biker Scout helmet from the original molds
ukscout replied to lonewolf's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
great news that EFX are producing the scout helmet intresting too see that the moulds where made from wood The EFX vader LE Legend edition helmet went for $799.....the Vader Legend Edition went for $999 me thinks that they may charge us the same amount for the EFX Scout Helmet They may do a two types Limited Edition and Legend Edition like they did with the vaders fingers crossed it won't be that much as it's plastic defo getting one when they are ready to order -
@BananoPower22- keep us updated on how you get @griffin-x - thanks for the comment if you guys want to see the rest of the pics check out my link below remember - its about sharing information on these lids and not hoarding any photos or info on your computers HD too many people on other forums stash info and pics away on screen used items and argue over the screen used details on countless threads i've seen over the years - but I'm glad this forum is not like others save these to your HD's and share with other new scout fans enjoy http://www.warnoeuk.f9.co.uk/ROTJ/SSa/

It depends on how screen accurate you want to make you helmet The screen used snout detail was a one piece with no hollowed out snout tip below is a close up pic of a screen used helmet to give you a better idea hope it helps http://www.warnoeuk.f9.co.uk/ROTJ/SSa/ROTJ-ORG-Scout-Fa.bmp

JS if you Google knee pad inserts, you'll find that their is several types of these available. These are good to line the inside of your lid and are relatively cheap also

LoneWolf helmet build thread
ukscout replied to Eddie TK Head's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
LW helmet kit looks really good, can't get one at the moment due to lack of funds right now but the painting of the helmet is the easy part make sure the helmet has a good key before applying the undercoat spray, prep the helmet after each primer base coat has dried with a light sand using wet & sand paper also make sure all you seams i.e. joints have been sanded smooth and filled in with bondo also when spraying the helmet put the spray can in hot water for a bit so that the paint inside becomes more fulid. if any paint runs just let it run and dry and sand out the run marks I also each paint layer 24hrs to fully dry (inside your home)due to the poor weather we have in the uk if your masking any areas to show the helmet weathered i.e paint chips try and get some liquid laytex masking fluid or which I seen people use toothpaste if you want the tiny splatter paint marks load up a tooth brush and flick the paint on also mist spray the helmet by shooting up the spary can upwards over the helmet and let the paint fall back down onto the helmet surface here's an example of misting i did on my blu ray terminator box set http://www.warnoeuk.f9.co.uk/TERM/ -
I've been working on a new project - 3d biker scout helmet Several years ago I worked on a 3d snout piece version and got this 3d printed now I'm not proposing to print this 1:1 scale 3d printed but printed similar scale as the Riddel helmets I toying with the idea at this point of time to get it 3d printed and then work on it by modifying the 3d printed version i.e final sanding/filling

Hi Christian Great update on the scout lid looking allot better, I'm looking forward in seeing more pics. Just one thing I noticed is that the scout visor needs to be thinker, look at the front on pic of the visor towards the bottom of the visor

thanks for the reply John, I was wondering how strong the original helmets where as the prop store helmet has a cracked lens and no damage to the lid - which made me think that the helmets where a bit flexiable
