In this hobby, 3 months is nothing! lol Ive waited over a year for some parts from other costumes, and even for some Scout parts. Its the nature of this hobby since most makers do this as a side thing and have day jobs. KS is a larger prop company that does deal in the business i beleive, so concidering they have "professiosnl" jobs to attend to, i think 3 months is fairly reasonable. That said when i ordered one they quoted me about 4 months and i got it in about a month, so it does vary im guessing depending on how busy they are.

Short answer, In my opinion, yes. As far as vac'formed helmets go KS is still a good choice. LW is the best currently available in kit form, but they are hard to come by. RS will be releasing a kit as well sometime this year i belive as well, cast off a production helmet, but that wont help you now lol. Next best Vac'd helmet, id say is Chef, then KS, then SC. Although the SC helmet will get you by, it is the smallest of the bunch and doesnt have the "ears" cast into the face plate which is a MAJOR help assembling it, and also accurate. The KS does have this on the faceplate. The KS is a good overall helmet, if you get it in kit form. I have one for my shadow scout build im doing. If you have them build it, you will have to rip half of it apart and re do it to get it to look good.

Help with Rivets for holster on boot
Darth Voorhees replied to matt8199's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
Dont panic! Its not that hard! If you dont have a drill, you can make the holes with an x-acto knife by twisting it in the same spot to make a hole. You dont need velcro or anything except some scrap plastic at the most. Use it to put on the inside of the boot between the material and the washer you use as a backing plate for the rivet. Cut a square larger than the rivet area (about an inch by an inch or so) to prevent it from pulling through. Thats all you really need to do. The velcro would be to keep your boot from sagging from the weight of the blaster if you have a heavier one. But it isnt NEEDED...especially if you hold your blaster most of the time. -
Helmet from Pepakura model
Darth Voorhees replied to kiel814's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
i can sqeeze mine on without openeing it, but it rubbs on my nose when i do that, so i usually open it a crack, like Chef said, to get it on. -
Yea i believe that. At C7 i saw Gino and we compared my LW to the Efx which is cast from a production helmet as far as i know, and he was also impressed with how close they were. John did a super fantastic job on them.
-
yea i already spoke to RS about getting a kit once available. This is going to be an epic helmet, and will be a display for me, as the LW is so close i am quite happy with it and i know it holds up great for trooping!

Help! Bubble wrap marks on Helmet
Darth Voorhees replied to AxelVBG's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Basically think of it like a facial scrub for your helmet. The rubbing compound has a light abrasive in it, so no need to put too much pressure while using it. It doesn't change the color of the paint at all no. It comes in a can like container like turtle wax. No you don't have too do anything afterwards. You could wax it if you want to make it nice n REALLY shiny, but the polishing compound does a pretty good job of getting it shiny on its own. Never tried the hairdryer thing that spike mentioned..may be worth a shot before buying anything. -
Help! Bubble wrap marks on Helmet
Darth Voorhees replied to AxelVBG's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Automotive rubbing compound and/or polishing compound with get that right out. You can literally buff it out lol. Back in 2009 i used to make Vader helmets and that happened to one. Ever since i always wrap my stuff in paper before the bubble wrap to prevent that. But yea, you can polish it out -
Improving belt to Lancer
Darth Voorhees replied to Quinxx44's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
In theory, yes. But i dont think your going to get a clean cover of the rivets, and it will likely look a little messy or lumpy. What id suggest is removing the rivets, gluing the belt pieces together and filling the holes with the ABS paste. -
Its a little bit bigger..not much, but it is bigger. The MLC and the KS are about the same circumference wise give or take a fraction or so, the MLC is just a touch taller. The SC is a small helmet overall. It works great for smaller and/or smaller female scouts.
-
I had an MLC3, a KS, and currently have an LW. I've also built a SC for someone. The MLC is bigger. Not by a whole lot, but it is bigger, its about the size of a KS. the SC is very small. The MLC is taller than the SC as well. I had no issue with the MLC with the chin showing or anything like that...however it was unavoidable with the SC, it is very squat. The KS isnt much better in that aspect, although it is larger than the SC circumference wise. With the KS my chin was just at the edge of the faceplate. THE MLC i had about 3/4" or so of space. That said everyones head /neck is different, so keep that in mind.

Reverse Angle of Leia/Scout encounter
Darth Voorhees replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Great pic Mickey! Great clear shot of a bunch of stuff. I dont believe i have personally seen this one! Im pretty sure, that most of the helmets didnt have the chin cup. If i remember correctly, Lancer now has the chincup optional as it isnt seen on sceen either at all, or very much. The only reason we know it definitely exists is from a screen used helmet in a private collection. At least thats how i remember it, please correct me if im wrong. -
Jim is correct. there also isnt even a CRL for them yet. Im sure as long as its built correctly, it would be approvable, especially since the pre-order kits were taken from the move molds as far as i understand. Production kits may be a little different, as they may be modified for easier assembly/wear. A birdie did tell me that they will likely be doing a scout in the future.

KS, LW or Chef is all that comes to mind for ABS helmets that arent small.
-
Years ago white rain boots with tan soles were acceptable in the legion. Now they are not, because they are not accurate, and honestly they look silly. The boots we make from the base workboot, are made like the screen used boots were, and are 1000 times more accurate. They are also fairly easy to do, and much more comfortable. That said, if your not going for legion clearance, you can do whatever you'd like

looks to me that the cummerbund is a bit long. the belt should be along the bottom of the bund, right under the pouches, so the cummerbund should end around that area. It shouldnt be over your butt lol Other than that, everything everyone else and you mentioned, is about it. Looks great on ya. I wish i was that thin lol

Kropserkel: Worth It For a Beginner?
Darth Voorhees replied to skitchie98's topic in Getting Started
The KS has the same seem as the SC around the back. They both go together the same. The KS has the "ears" on the faceplate that the SC does not which helps with assembly and accuracy. The SC looks very soft to me and just looks off. The KS i have for my Shadow scout was pulled fairly recently (last year i believe) and looks fine pull wise. As far as i knew they had fixed their molds. By the look of my current KS helmet, id think they did, but one never knows lol. I would agree the LW is the way to go, but i figured he wants to get trooping! Like you said, they are hard to get a hold of, but it would be a great upgrade later on. Another option is the Chef helmet, i think that one is also very well done, pretty much on par with LW. -
Kropserkel: Worth It For a Beginner?
Darth Voorhees replied to skitchie98's topic in Getting Started
Hey Dixon! Welcome to the BSN! Where in NY are ya? Im in Oceanside out on Long Island NY Worried about? Na, but i think you'd be better off with SC armor. His turn-around times are quicker and its more accurate then the KS, it may also be less expensive, but im not 100% sure on that. That said, id go with the KS helmet if you want a lightweight ABS plastic helmet. MLC is good for Fiberglass helmets if you like a little more weight to the helmet and a more "real feel" I hear the NI helmet is fairly nice as well, but i have no personal experience with that one, so i cant say anything about it for sure. -
Hm..i dunno..thats tricky size wise. I want to make a sniper rifle to use, like in the video games (Like Marcel made) ..but was also thinking about making some sort of modded E-11..buuuuut that idea hasnt gone further than "i should make a modded E-11" lol That said, ive seen troopers make "extended" E-11 sniper rifles by doing a pipe build on a longer pipe. You can then make it any length you want. Im guessing thats not canon in any way, but i think its still pretty cool and fits in universe.
