  1. Nice build up Dave, I love your paint job and weathering techniques.
  2. This greeblie looks very sharp, nice job.
  3. That will hold the belt together very well. Nice how you have pulled the curve in, my belly didn't require this step
  4. Great detective work, that elastic colour, width and the way it sits is excellent. Loving this build thread Terry.Thanks.
  5. Yes I think the originals were elastic, I used white elastic on my first kit, making a stitched loop. I think many guys use a large wrap of material to hide the gap as they are larger and need a bigger gap. You are pushing the SC armour up a notch, the rear back plate should be square along the "neck" and back hump area, cut the belt ends down, one rivet only central on each end, possibly cut the holster front detail lines to make them a bit more distinct? the drop boxes can be cut down a bit, round off the inner sides more, round the thermal detonator inner sides to sit with the curve of your back. You may have done some of these things already. I love your attention to detail.
  6. The canvas bridging straps are too wide IMO, half this size is more accurate. The SC chest decal indent is too big, to "disguise" this part of the armour I used a smaller rectanglar decal. I only highlight these because I can see you are a fussy guy with your costume builds.
  7. Well done Ryan, you made it look easy
  8. Great work Terry, we will retire your Stormtrooper costume yet
  9. The dome and back look a little too tidied up/straighened up on the EFX. Possibly a bit of mold tweaking. Still a lovely collectable.
  10. Yes Rob, I am adding the codpiece behind the front part of the cummerbund to create a "step" for the belt to sit below the ribbed section. I am fairly sure the originals were along these lines. It will also avoid the cummerbund fron slipping below the belt. I also think folks make their codpiece too thin from top to bottom, the originals were like big nappies, very wide at the top. I am using camping foam on the codpiece , it will avoid the horrible looking "camel toe". As an extra way to avoid the cummerbund from revealing a gap at the chest armour I am adding a curve at this point , not screen accurate but I remember a troop where this was my costume malfunction and it ruined any decent pics I had!
  11. Yes Patrik this is correct, only the codpiece topsection should sit under the belt, and the top part of the codpiece should be approx 12" wide . Not a bad material choice Rob, possibly a bit too glossy but better than canvas/cotton IMO. The ribbing looks better with 5. The codpiece could be padded with some soft foam matting? I think the originals had something pretty robust inside them the way they bend in the pics.
  12. Great job Terry, the new SC knees look so much better now.
  13. Great twist to the design, the suspender drop boxes is a nice idea, everything works , Superkrates knows what Femtroopers want Your model has a great body
  14. They both have their good and bad points, the KS is possibly better for bigger guys, here are some comparison pics, The KS has the return edges, it sits quite straight on the front of your rib cage, so is a not as nicely curved as the SC, but it has a nice V on the front. It is wider than the SC. Hope this helps.
  15. My new cummerbund is finished, five raised areas and six stitch lines, just like the Biker Scouts in Return of the Jedi.
  16. These look great Patrik, the metal is fine to file and shape.
  17. Yes I agree about the material, the blu Ray really looks like a nylon type material, I am not so up on materials, polyester/rayon? But it is probably not soft/canvas cotton, brushed cotton possibly?. The sheen is very clear especially the closeups. I thought I was the only crazy guy to notice this Rob
  18. Great screen grabs, just the same as the Blu Ray Biker Scout prop costume. I didn't notice the Stormtrooper next to Nick Sant has no rubber forehead trim, anybody else think the Stormtrooper belts are the same width and style as the Biker Scout version?
  19. Looks great, I love the way the scope shows every detail and the distinction between the textures of it. It has turned out much better than I hoped. I will give the blaster a wee sanding and another paintjob, I enjoy this type of work. Looking forward to receiving this blaster now, thanks Smitty.
  20. Everything looks great, but as you say the shoulder bells could do with being higher and closer to the shoulder bridges.# Maybe loosen the shoulder bell elastics around your arms as well, the originals were a bit looser looking. Great build thread.
  21. If we can agree that the possibility of at least one Biker Scout wearing a neckseal, quite possibly the same one as seen on the BR prop display, then I think it should be "allowed" as a valid part of the costume. It is not a mistake like "Mr No Stripes" or other types of costume malfunctions. If it was added to the costume there was a reason to add it, padding for the stuntman's neck or just because wardrobe thought it was needed on these close up scenes? Agreed the evidence is difficult to say for certain, but we shouldn't rule out the BR prop as it does look like a very similar neckseal to the one some of us see on the Biker Scout screen grab. And as others agree, if we are just seeing a rolled up balaclava, the wrinkles look too evenly spaced, but it could be just that. I would continue to always wear a balaclava due to the large front of a Biker Scout helmet and as I know this is how it was "supposed" to look under the lid. We are relearning about the details of this costume all the time which is great
  22. It isn't a Stormtrooper neckseal on the Blu Ray Biker Scout, unless the ROTJ Stormtroopers had this type of neckseal. It could be a Biker Scout neckseal, and made especially for the Biker Scout. It is a wider ribbed black cotton type material, unlike the Star Wars Stormtrooper neckseal. I will try to get the picture of the Biker Scout in the movie with the wide type/Blu Ray neckseal.
  23. Great post Phil, very well thought out. I am mainly concerned with the number of ribs on the cummerbund on this thread. I do think my OP is still accurate as I have seen nothing to overrule it. And it seems nobody is saying anything different to what I said. Yes on the other differences in this costume, mainly the neckseal, I think it cannot be ignored for standards as it is in the movie. I also think we would all still wear a Balaclava with the neckseal due to the design of the helmet and the fact that we see a Biker Scout [Nik Sant] wearing a balaclava. I do think not allowing an accurate neckseal for the standards is incorrect. But it would need to be a different type to the Stormtroopers. This could be sorted on another post. I would like to hear other guy's views on these things.
  24. Mr Bungle may have a spare set, pm him on here.
