  1. I forgot to mention earlier that I sort of cheated with my cammo pattern and bought a stencil for $20. It's a heavy duty piece of clear flexible plastic with the cutouts. I cut out most of them individually so they were much easier to work with. http://www.stencilease.com/db/display.asp?input=2150
  2. Cool! Can't wait to see the build and have another KST added!
  3. The guy was sitting on the ground and besides, I didn't want to show my double chin Here is what the wife normally wears... it's my thread so I can hijack it
  4. Good! Most people didn't know what I was, but still wanted pictures with me because I looked cool. There was one little boy that said "wow! a Kashyyyk Trooper!" I heard a lot of people calling me an "army scout". How offensive since I'm a former Marine Here is a shot with the wife
  5. This one is big as well... good detail on the cammo job
  6. When I saw the pic this morning, I first thought that it was something an artist did since it was so huge and detailed. Hopefully they will feed us some more of these gems. Did you notice the little notch in the inner left bicep? So on the boots, are we okay with either white or tan? They really do look tan to me and are very close to the base color on the armor.
  7. It looks like there are a couple of new-ish images on wookieepedia, unless I'm late to the party. I know we have shots in the gallery, but they are no where near as big as this one (click for full size)..... notice the TAN boots!
  8. Taken from page 1 of the WIP >>>> I had someone make the gloves... they are soft cowhide with grey padded leather on top of the hand, and a grey leather strip sewn on the wrist.
  9. Thanks for providing the armor and all of the tips along the way. I will be fixing the double looped front strap on the drop boxes to a single strap in a bit... I just wanted to get them attached for the troop tomorrow. I will also be updating my WIP with some more nitty gritty shots to help out others that may want to tackle this beast. Also, this was by far the toughest costume I have put together, and I have a TK, TB, IC, TI, and Rebel Scum pilot. All of the little details (AND PAINT JOB!) in this costume are enough to make one go loony.... in a good way though. I feel like I have the 1000 yard stare right now..... I need a nap
  10. DONE! More pics in the HQ area
  11. I got this done in the nick of time for the free comic book day troop tomorrow!
  12. I actually haven't had the whole thing on yet..... Tomorrow!
  13. Fixed... everything is weathered up and clear coated. That clear coat sure wreaks havoc on the shiny chrome! It started to get gummy and lost most of it's shine. Oh well. I just have to attach the drop box leather strips and sew the riding patch tomorrow..... other than that, it's all done!
  14. Here is how I did my toe armor.... I hot glued some foam blocks to the toe, then hot glued some velcro to the top. This allows the armor to literally float on top of the boot. It doesn't make any velcro tearing noise when walking OR any clickitty-clack sounds. attached to the boot.... notice all of the clearance for the shin armor so it doesn't rub much. Pretty close to being done with the lid. Just a tad more weathering, stickers, and goggle.... should be tomorrow! I think it's going to be done for the troop on Saturday! WOOT!
  15. The magnets don't work since the boots flex too much. The toe armor snaps from the magnets jumping back into place with every step... pretty loud and annoying. I rigged a different system that works great and is MUCH quieter. I will post pics soon... I'm frantically trying to get this puppy ready for a troop on Saturday, and I just might make it!
  16. Getting closer to the finished product... I couldn't stand it any more and had to pull up some of the latex to expose the chrome and primer. I am like a kid at Christmas pulling it off bund with velcro and belt attached dye job... I'm trying to figure out if I want to put it through a bit more or not... and yes, I know that the pants are a bit lighter. The shirt was brand new so there is a bit of color variation. attaching magnets for the toe armor So more much more to do!
  17. I'm going to make it a mix. This cammo is all over the place going from blotchy, to jagged, to almost an airbrush look in some areas... I'm using the hi-res screen caps for reference.
  18. I recd MB's samples yesterday and got some small paint samples mixed up to match. This is the result so far... taken inside with the flash on.
  19. Sewed the accurate front pouches myself... what a PITA! glued velcro to the back of the bund pouches first layer of cammo 2nd layer of cammo I need to get a few more spots of cammo done before I move on to other pieces. I just want to make sure it looks good before I proceed.
  20. Just wondering since the inner large rubber pad is green and the strap is black... I mean the ones you sent.
  21. Should all the greebs on the left bicep be grey?
  22. Are you still mailing samples, or should we print this pic?
  23. Yeah... I know about the buckle color, I just figured since I was shooting a coat of primer on the belt, I may as well get a base coat on the buckles before I paint them black. I put my back pouches a bit off because there really isn't a spot for them when it's laid out flat. But the location has been noted.
  24. More progress. Remember... the globs here and there are where the silicone was applied so it kind of looks like crap right now until I remove them. I plan to wait until I do the cammo job to remove the silicone so I don't have to worry about painting around it. There are a couple of small spots here and there that I did remove the silicone just to make sure it looks good, which it does. painted snout and rear vent Naked bund pouches (still have to attach w/velcro) knee armor ... I decided to go with snaps on both sides glueing in the knee pads to the shoulder bells, and the bungee straps to the elbow armor spraying the belt bells, knees, and elbows completed chest and back strapped up I decided to try to get most of the little stuff out of the way while I wait for MB to get me the cammo paint chips. I also have a bunch of rare earth magnets on the way that I plan on using here and there.
  25. I had someone make the gloves... they are soft cowhide with grey padded leather on top of the hand, and a grey leather strip sewn on the wrist.
