Looking good, brother! With all that moss hanging off ya, I'm going to have to nickname you "Swamp Thing"

Very cool! Welcome!

We all got screwed over because of the clone thing. Jengo/Temuera is 5'7" tall and probably only 160lbs. You would think that they would have used someone that is 6' tall. Based on that, we are all out of spec in some way. I'm 5'11" and 200lbs, so I say that was put through the stretcher and ate too many double bacon Wookiee burgers... heh. One thing I dig about your set up is that you rock the BFG, and it completely fits with your size. It reminds me of when I was in the USMC and the bigger guys would lug around the M60 and other med-HWs.

I deleted it because others snuck in as I was typing and there was no need to get redundant. Truth be told, as far as the "accuracy" is concerned, it just needs to "look accurate". My straps emulate the look just fine and I was approved.... there is no way to be TRULY accurate with this costume since one was never made. If we were truly accurate, we would all be wearing ones and zeros And hey, this is just my opinion and am trying to help out... it's really no sweat if you take it or leave it. Also, I DO know what you are going through. We put about a grand into a costume for my wife that didn't get approved the first time, which was extremely frustrating. Most of this stuff that people are suggesting are pretty easy fixes. I would also like to see your solution for the shoulder straps since it's nice to see what others come up with, like you did with the gloves.

Yes! Do that and create a tutorial! The cod really keeps me from bending down very much.

I had the same problem with droopy shin armor straps. You can dab a bit of super glue on them to keep them up.

The gloves are cool! Is there any way to make your thigh pockets smaller at this point? They look a bit on the big side. The flaps should also have a flat edge on the bottom with an angled cut coming in from the outside. You can see what I'm talking about in this pic. I followed Lonescout's lead http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?show...amp;#entry49912

Ahhh.. yes, that is the chest and tank. I sewed velcro directly to my suit on the shoulders, then glued velcro on the knee pads in the bells. I did the same thing with the bicep pieces. I'm a tad lazy and just leave the bells and biceps attached, so I just have to toss the shirt on and not worry about lining pieces up properly if there isn't a mirror available.

I slapped strips of industrial strength velcro w/adhesive (rough side) on the inside shoulder area front and back. I then used sewable (non sticky) velcro strips to hold the front and back together, which are the load bearing straps. Then I sewed some more velcro on some seatbelt type webbing material and painted w/primer... then just attach the grey straps and you're done. I did also put a couple of small pieces on top of the armor so the seat belt straps can lay down nicely. I did have them free-floating before, but they curled up and made it look like they weren't holding the armor together.

I joined my garrison in the annual beach troop today (mostly sand related characters). Finally some shots that looks sort of like Kashyyyk. I was pretty shocked with how many people wanted their pic taken with the "cool cammo one" where's Waldo?

Weathering will help complete the look, but you know that already. I used an airbrush and used black and brown. Be careful if you put a clear/uv coat over the top because the one I used completely took the shine out of the chrome coat. You may want to do a test spot first before you hit the whole thing.
-
Either it's my eyes, issues with the camera, or the color is actually off with the paint. It seems like the base coat is too light and the brown looks a bit too redish. Otherwise, I like the pattern and it may use a tad more here and there. Sorry if this has been a buzzkill.. just trying to help

There's still time to buy me a plane ticket

Okay... send them an email at sales@leathermystics.com and reference "CG Gloves". You may want to have Frank send them a set of the forearm pads. I'm going to try to get the two of them together so he can supply them and make it easy.

They are hard to get a hold of lately since they travel by truck and trailer to a lot of fairs and festivals. I will try them again.

I would volunteer if you paid for my flight and lodging

I dig it! My method lasted through a parade on Saturday with zero problems.... choices are good!

Ahh yes.. that was a part that left me pretty baffled. The problem is that this glove has to be the most difficult part of the costume to nail. The upper cuff/forearm almost looks like a separate piece in some shots, and attached in others. The proportions are out of whack for regular human arms as well. Here are the screen used ones And here are mine all geared up... remember that I'm going to have them add a bit of black cuff behind the wrist strap though. Also, these glove will be made to order so they will not have them ready to go. If you want a tweak here and there, then I'm sure they can accomodate. They the basics down so it can only improve. One thing to note though is that these are also made to still provide some dexterity so they aren't all padded up in the fingers like the TB gloves are. I personally couldn't stand the TB gloves unless it was cold out... it was like wearing ski gloves!
-
When you say top pad, do you mean the forearm greeb? If so, they are practically at my elbows already. I'm sure this will be something that you can have them add or shorten an inch here and there depending on arm length and girth. When they make the last mod to mine, they will be adding more room for forearm girth since mine are a bit tight.
-
Probably not standard... but I'm sure they would do it with an up-charge. Going seamless is time consuming.

We are about to get the green light for these bad boys to go into production and take the guess work out of it. I have been working for the last 3 months with a leather company based in Oregon to make these available to the masses.... they have been great to work with! There is just one minor tweak they are going to do to my gloves and we will be good to go. This is how they will look, but will have a short black cuff added where the black meets the brown to make it look like the forearms are padded armor like on the screen. The pads on top of the hand are padded leather (about 1/2") and the rest is soft cowhide. We will be looking at $100-120 (still finalizing) + 6.50 for US, and $18.50 for international. Final details and contact info to follow.

Way better! I'm sure it will look pretty fantastic with some weathering. In addition to using the latex over the chrome and primer, I watered some of the brown paint down and fed it into my airbrush and misted over here and there, then used the dark primer for additional misting.

Forgot to update this the other day... I have been approved with the 501st and RL http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember...mp;costumeID=36 http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/costume.p...view&c=4546

Looking good. You may want to fill in a bit of brown on the left side square brown areas so it doesn't look like you just used the same sponge to blot it on. Put a little more work on the front and get some color underneath the visor and around the goggle area.
