  1. Also agreed on the theory. Good discussion on this, folks! Really looking forward to the next pull to see just how it looks!
  2. While I'm not trying to keep my scout clean, I'm also not trying to be too dirty. Partly because I want the suit to weather naturally and partly because the cleaner version is a bit more suitable when doing canon events. When I get the cash, I'd actually like to have 2 suits: 1 clean and 1 dirty.
  3. Well, the flak vest is available through a couple of members here and the mandarin-style collar is usually the option for some of the racing suits a few of the members here use.
  4. I did the magnet mod and also glued some thin foam to the inside of the holster. Holds the blaster very well with no slop.
  5. That's not a bad idea, actually. That way, if someone has the time/ability/tools to handle this kit, it'd be easier to get a few more out there. Ultimately, it's your call, lonewolf. You're the guy doing all the work!
  6. I guess by now, you KNOW I'm interested! But put me at the bottom of the list for now. Gotta get me a job first.
  7. Oh, it's not a problem of getting to sleep, it's just that my subconscious really, really wants one of your buckets, hahahaha! I like that you're going all the way with this build in trying to make it the proper size. I think once you've hammered out all the details, people will be scrambling to donate duplicate organs and possibly limbs to get one. Anyone know how much a kidney and a lung go for on the black market these days?
  8. Hey Wayne, Looks good so far. One more thing you could do is to pull those pouches up a bit more. Dunno how you have them attached but ideally, you just want the pouch showing below the chest armour, not the tab at the top. Keep us updated! Good to see another scout in Canada!
  9. The only problem is that it'll be a different size dependent on how thick your legs are. My riding patch is huge because I've got big thighs. As compared to the template that's in the gallery, mine's about double the width and about another 25% longer. The mudflap should just be about waist width and it should hang just above the bottom of yer butt.
  10. Really coming along nicely. Interesting point about the dome... And as proof that you've officially blown my mind with this bucket (which I would be overjoyed to own) I was dreaming about it last night. Yup. It's in my head, hahaha!
  11. Yeah, I was wondering about the MC snout piece. How much shorter is it?
  12. Just... WOW! That is really taking shape nicely! I've been staring at the screen-used bucket photos we have in the gallery and then looking back at your new pull and I have to say that it's looking like the real deal.
  13. Are you looking for the strap that keeps the two halves together (from the bottom)? That's no wider that 1.5". Heck, the elastic I use on my armour is only 1" wide elastic.
  14. I put my speaker in my left pouch. I sewed a little loop inside and clipped 'er in. Works like a charm. Also cut a small hole in the back of the pouch so I could route my headset cable into the pouch unseen.
  15. Nice work! I don't have quite the same eye as Philipp does but aside from the visor being a bit too arched, I think it looks great. Looking forward to more pics of your progress towards an even better bucket!
  16. Out of curiosity, are there no cobblers/shoe repair joints near you? Maybe it'd be cheaper to have the CA boots fixed locally.
  17. Good luck with the build and enjoy the MC armour. I love mine. Pretty easy to work with too. If you need any help, take a look at all the info here. If you look up Jedijennie, she's posted a few good tips on how to make a smaller biker scout kit work.
  18. I think you just need a dark colour. There's nothing specific mentioned about what colour is correct (or incorrect). As for the bucket mounting, it really all depends on how much space you have inside. In my KS, I can't fit a headband so I've got a few bits of foam instead. While I can't speak for the scouts who've become Lancers, I doubt that the headband makes a difference. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  19. Congrats! I just got cleared too. Don't forget to put your info in your profile.
  20. Haven't tried what you're saying, but the only issue I can see is how well the elastic cloth will hold up over time. The system I use is a bit of black nylon webbing with 2 snaps on it, 2 snaps on the adjoining shoulder area and it's all covered up with a tube of twill/duck cloth that's stitched to the strap. This way, I can take it all apart and store it much more compactly. If you decide to rivet it all together, you'd better make sure you use some washers to help things stay together.
  21. Nope. I took it off my KS when I got it.
  22. You don't need to put that strip on. On the other side, if you feel it's more comfortable with it on, you can put it on. It's not a deal-breaker either way. It's acceptable for the legion but it's not screen-accurate (as far as we know).
  23. Are they just on the surface or are they part of the plastic? You can try polishing it. Worst comes to worse, you can carefully spot paint it. (BTW, love your avatar!)
  24. Generally, the mudflap is secured to the waist (at the back) and ends just near the bottom of the butt. Width is about waist-wide, but scale it so it looks similar to the screen cap found here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?auto...=si&img=384 If you look hard, you'll see the outline of the flap.
  25. Yup, totally agree with the above posts. I had to do the same to my front armour to reduce the curve of the shoulder straps. Just take your time and make sure you don't burn yourself - hot plastic sucks!
