Hey Melanie,

solid build so far! Seems like you figured out some of the "complicated" parts in getting the right name of the fabrics in german... 😉 You should definately check out the forum of our Garisson, but you'll find loads of info and nice persons here at the detachement (as you might already have noticed 😛) Looking forward to see your approval pictures in our ticket system.

Cheers
Arne

Yeah, I'm still waiting to get my account unlocked. But since it has to be done manually and it's holidays I guess I have to be patient (one of my character strengths... not) 😆

Well, I did use the holiday for the 2nd sole (and I hated it passionately). Due to children-issues we were only few people on sunday, so I had almost an entire cake for myself.

all that sugar and a thick taping of my fingers helped a lot finishing it.

But before I can start the interesting part of my shoemaking, there will be a pause because of the beginning reenactment season.

well well well...

... just a little over a year later since I last touched this costume… 🫢I took a lazy saturday and the only Raglan Pattern I have (if anyone is interested, it was the

Lizabeth Raglan Top from Gertie’s 2022s Charm Artist Collective). Alterations were easily made as the original pattern already has a front seam and is very loosely cut, so I simply turned the pieces around and cut the collar off.

This fabric is 100 % cotton and a lot heavier than the T-Shirt-Cotton, but also so so so much more dimensionally stable! For the final vest I will try to find cotton that is in the middle of bothh prototypes, weightwise.

The pattern has little darts at the front (you can’t see it on the picture because I managed to sew them RIGHT UNDER my boobs where they are of absolutely no use), and I hope these darts will make the vest less roomy on the belly. I won’t love to have to scrunch a lot of excess material under the cummerbund.

It may be that the opening at the neck is to small, the sleeves are too short and the vest itself is too long on prototype 2. This time I just wanted to check if I could alter the pattern to something flak-vesty, and I did. I’m satified with that. The sleeves aren’t padded on prototype 2 anyway, so testing if they extend no further than 1.5 inches past the bottom edge of the shoulder bell will be left for prototype 3

Still, the plan is to leave the vest separate from the flight suit, codpiece and cummerbund once it will be ready.
