I'm thinking on of these may be the blue then.

Mt Everest

or Mt Fuji, but I think it's too dark

I'm ordering Everest, but I'm still not sure which red to try first. Ketchup looks pretty good.

Edit: arrgh. I just saw himilaya blue and Kent blood red. Those 2 look even better to me. Everest looks a little too blue to me. Himilaya with weathering should look really good.

What do you think?

Not sure if this will help anymore but once I found out that Montana Sahara Beige was the Tan colour I started using this image as reference for the rest of the colours.

Anyone tried MG Denim?

After a wash I think this could be the business, of course I'm not set in my opinion and it could change after more info.

Edit . . .

After a little more playing its most likley not. Everest seems to be closer once the Sahara beige gets edited in Gimp to match the armor (attempt to match).

I think I have found a supplier in New Zealand so will pick a can up monday.

Colours changed to more closely match photo (all the same settings). Along the bottom are the un modified colours.

Brad Hill "Both colors are black washed/weathered as required and lighting is a real close match on the beige. Regular Denim on left and Everest on right. Once weathered the Denim looks closer to me now"

The rest of the legit colors courtesy of Glyn Dillon:

"The red on arm is Halfords Toyota Red 3E5. The Blue/grey stripe was a base colour of Halfords Ford Nordic Blue - with and over spray of Halfords Matt Black then a subtle overspray of 'Dirty Down' grey. All thanks to king of our breakdown dept Tim Shanahan."

You can get the Toyota Red 3E5 at auto zone still. It's a common Toyota color.

The Nordic Blue can be had from PaintScratch.com. Search for a 1968 Ford "Other Models" and its the Aculpulco Blue

The Toyota Red 3E5 is commonly reproduced by several brands around the world, here's one example in the US:

http://www.autobarn....-red-2-3e5.html

The same thing for the Nordic Blue. On Halford's website says: "The Halfords Ford Nordic Blue car spray paint is an exact match for the Ford code: MG, T and 1401A." I guess you can look for it as "Ford Nordic Blue".

NOTE: Please bear in mind that according to the production guys, the nordic blue seems to have been desaturated using an overspray of matt black, and a grey ageing spray.

  • Just as a heads up some one posted a while back that Ford Nordic blue was also Alcopolo blue and that is not correct at least not here in the US. The accurate Ford Nordic blue was a UK color, it was not made on US cars at all. The closest US Ford color is the 1980 Ford Fiesta "Light Blue" paint code 1401A. They have used the word Nordic blue for other colors in much earlier year models (60's era) but it is nothing like the blue we see used on the Shoretroopers. Currently there is no off the shelf "touch up" spray can paints made in the US in the correct color, but you can get custom mixed colors from several places online as well as local body shops or automotive paint stores in spray cans. Expect to pay around $25 per can plus shipping

I just got a call from the art supply company I ordered the Beige from in late December. Their distributors are bumping their estimate of shipping orders from mid Jan to mid Feb :(

One of my distributors stated that they have a Montana black beige available. Same paint code. 8020 as the gold can just in a high pressure can. Colors look identical. Anyone have thoughts or first hand experience with this?

From what I've read the color is the SAME the black series is just higher pressure out of the can. (Since this brand is usually used for art, etc)

How many cans of each have people been using, and also have you used a primer?

I used 1 can for the helmet, and 2.5 for the armor

I did a basecoat of a high build primer and then flat black, and then the top coat.
