Airbrush?

Have you tried them a little lighter in color? Maybe feather out, or soften up the outside edges of the camo with a sponge. (maybe?)

I mean, I like them. That's pretty much the color I have. (I might end up re-doing mine. Why? I don't know...)

Well, when you add the weathering, it should soften the colors a bit. So, I'm just rambling then.

Here's a still shot from Ep. III

Is it my imagination, or does the paint on the shoulder bell, in the screen shot, look like it's "pitted" on the surface?

Nah, spray paint with cut out stencile. Hold and spray approach. So soften up the edges? Here I thought the idea was to have it more defined! This should make the rest easier! I do kind of like the hard lined look though. Approvable? It does look pitted in the middle... Damaged I would say.

Yeah bselph, that looks better in that light and with more colour on it.

The hard line look is acceptable as per the CRL

And yes Matt the sholder looks like it has some battle damage, but that's why the grey is showing through right?

It looks good as is.

I wouldn't go too much heavier on it.

When you have more room, like the chest and back / tank, there will be more of a canvas to play with.

I like the damaged look. Might have to add some "pitting" to mine.

Nah, the pointy parts are okay. On the screen shot, it does have some good overlapping on the colors.

They just looked a little bold. When you add some weathering, it should tone it down. Give it more of a dirty flat look.

Recon...yup. Good on the grey/silver showing through.

If you guys do that, make sure the silver has a flat look to it.

No shiny parts on the KST...except the green reflective lens on the helmet. B)

Yeah, the chrome undercoat is fine.

I forgot that it's metallic.

But, after you have all of that done, with the tan base coat, and the camo colors, and then scrape off where the silver shows through, add a coat of flat clear.

That will still give it the silver color, but it will make it dull or flat in appearance.

The paint I'm using has been coming out flat, but I'm going to use the flat clear anyway for another layer of protection. Would hate to drop something and then have the paint scrapped off

I checked the thread for the armor set. It appears that those stickers aren't on the sheet with the others.

You might want to notify BC on this and see if they make them.

That seems to be the only part missing from the rest of the stickers.

Got some work done since my last update. Got some painting and helmet work done. Check it out and see what you guys. As you can see, the helmet padding I was talking about earlier, the dye job on the soft armor, and I'm trying some goop to hold the knee greeb. Also, I left the opening in the back plate. Most likely, I will never use that space, but considering hooking up a speaker in that spot. I guess I could put a camel back in there too if it gets really hot, but worried it would cause too much weight in the back. Let me know what you guys think of the paint and weathering. Just flip through the album.

I think the first thing you need to do is send me that Mustang...for proper disposal. I'll take care of that for you. ;)

The dye on the soft parts looks good. Just like everybody else's. (Purple tinted. But that's normal.)

The base paint color looks great. The colors for camo, nicely done.

More weathering...in my opinion.

I can't see the sides of the helmet very well, but it looks like the discs on the sides are silver. Shoot some black on them. (If that's the case. If I'm wrong...I'm old and don't know any better...)

For the knee greeb straps...you might have to add snaps to those. That rubber doesn't like any form of glue.

There seems to be enough room to add a snap. Not all of the ends of the greeblie will show outside of the knee armor.

Check Recon's build thread. If it's thin enough, you could use the heavy duty snaps on it. (The kind used on thick leather.)

I had to do those on my wife's and son's knee straps.

Overall...looking good.

Remember....Mustang....ship to Grumpy.... :D

Overall appearance...two thumbs up. Not too much camo, but just enough so there's not a lot of the base color.

....weathering....more of it.... B)

I don't know how I'm going to do the belt... And I was thinking maybe if the greebs were painted first then the might take the glue an hold

I have one of the new sets of BC's armor.

I'm trying to figure out a way to work with the belt.

I have some ideas that involve snaps or a little bit of sewing.

I'll pop back in on here or DR's build thread.

The ideas are rattling around, so I'll explain it when I try something.

Oh, and the new belts are lighter in color. To me, don't worry about the color of the belt. My wife's has a green-grey tint to it.

Just as long as you get it to work.

Now, to experiment...

Thanks for the tips guys. I feel like I'm giving birth and you two are the Lamaze coaches. As for the mustang, if I could only give it up! Bought before children and now no room!

I am going to try snaps on the knee and forearm straps. Thinking of adding backing and then a washer before I pop rivet the snaps on. Hopefully it will secure it without ripping the rubber.

Yeah Matt, the helmet doesn't have the black discs on the screws yet. I need to find something, most likely a bar stool foot cover than I can hollow out. Surprising, but there is less room in the bucket for a fan than anticipated.

One idea I had with the belt, Is to do snaps on a cloth webbing that is backed with Velcro. That wa it is not snapped right to the cummerbund and less if a chance of drooping at all. I think if you add the snaps in the black areas, you can paint over with a sharpe marker to hide it. Just have to be careful to place your snaps in the place the belt would bend to. Other wise, when you snap it, and the wrap around your body, the belt may warp. I think it would be best to just add the snaps when you have the belt bent already. My concern is going to be how to attach the buckle portion. Thinking of making a bracket f
