Jae and Mike's KT builds

The toe cap meets the riveted plastic with a nice big blob of permatex plastic welder. Its strong. I may load some e6000 into a syringe and put some between the boot and the front edge of the toe cap. The plastic weld isnt under stress though so maybe I wont..... I dunno. Going to shop for the grapple-grommet ring greeblie today.

Dyed my Tan ultrasuede- better than real suede cause you can wash it. Used a blend of RIT tan and pearl grey first, but it didn't take too well. Did it again with dark brown and LOTs of pearl grey and very luckily it came out very close to the screen seen color. Also Ive test painted a couple pouches. Sadly my Krylon base color just wicked into the fabric so I had to put a layer of tulips fabric paint down first, then Krylon, then airbrush acrylics. Sadly I lost the nice color of the base fabric. The airbrush acrylics stick to the raw fabric no problem. If I spent the time to mix Tamiya paints to match the base coat of the armor Id have no probs showing some raw fabric through here n there. Maybe on version 2.

Thanks Gerald. Running? You're braver than me. Here are the 2 spine pouches that look darker than the rest in some of the screen caps. Color turned out pretty much the same as screen cap so I'm happy with them. theyre dark enough already- they wont get weathered like the rest of the pouches.

mine is thick too, though when u run it tend to jump on head a bit ,no need really strong chin strap just sumfin what will prevent that wild jumps :) though need be carefull about toe caps when u run also if they sit too close to shin they can scratch it ,otherwise can do alot more things than Ie stormtroopers ;)

I have lots of scratches on my shins from the toe caps....

& lots of scratches on my chest armor from taking up a firing posture with my rifle...

It adds to the armor, makes it look use & more real ;)

The greeb on the top of the back plate is supposed to be black. Normally I wouldn't say anything, because you stated that you still had a day of painting left, but it looks like you carried the camo onto the greeb. Looks pretty good

Thanks brother. I expect that the black will overlap the camo so that the pattern just goes up to the greeb not over it. Heres hoping I didn't make an oops cause im out of green.

there: Though now that its painted I see that the tank is about 3/4 of an inch too big. Oh well way too late now.

Time to finish up the shins. Jae and I talked a long time about what the best material for the straps would be. We ended up falling on fire hose. Just the right texture and body I think.

Tank is a little extended from the back plate, but the nice thing about the camo paint job is that it hides some imperfections. Unless you point it out, most people won't even notice. FIrehose does look good. I just used cream 1" webbing and dirtied the heck out of it before installing on the shin armor. But now that firehose looks good HMMMM!!

Still working away. Putting a matte coat polyurethane on everything to protect the paint job. lost some of the subtle weathering in the process which I guess I kinda knew would happen. I guess I can always buff with steel wool and reapply a bit of weathering powder over the clearcoat. Im modding my shin greebs a bit to look a bit more like the refs and to go on in such a way that they will stay put forever.
