Harbinger’s TB WIP (501st/Lancer Approved - but never done!)
Harbinger replied to Harbinger's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
Thanks Corey. Always love reference. Speaking of reference - how does this look for chest? Should the back armor be noticeable lower than the front? Apologies ahead of time, I'd prefer to have taken these with my flight suit on but I forgot, so sriracha shirt it is: I may need to bring the tops closer together to maybe rotate the entire assembly forward... I'm also thinking I may need to use a hot water bath and/or heat gun to give these a little bit more of a curve so they fit my chest (see crudely drawn dashed white lines) better. Thoughts on either point appreciated. -

For Lancer, do the slots on the holster need to be cut all the way through or do they just need to be present? -

It was not intentional, I guess working from home and not eating fast food almost every day was a good side effect! -
Congrats and condolences all. Excited to finish up my TB for SWCA and see you all there!

Harbinger’s TB WIP (501st/Lancer Approved - but never done!)

22 Months Later… Greetings troopers! I took an unplanned break from this build due to COVID, moved house, new job, had another kid… you know, the usual “life” thing. My soft goods arrived sometime in the winter of 2020, after many delays (also COVID!). Sadly I’ve lost quite a bit of weight so will need those tailored or replaced. Anyway, first quasi-test fit since 2020! Boot holster placement check? -
I ordered my flak vest and undersuit from him. Quality is good, real suede (if you pay extra!), shipping took FOREVER. So long in fact I now need to take it in due to losing 20lbs… but no complaints on the actual items.

Pre-Production Scout Armor Kit Interest
Harbinger replied to MrPoopie's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Interested. Selfishly wondering if you’re pulling in something to match the RS off-white? -
Same here. I'll clearcoat after weathering to match sheen a bit better but mine was not gloss or semi, although... not sure it'll make much different after a year of actual weathering.
-
I has RS as well - they are certainly the priciest, but it's the most accurate (it has lineage!) and they do a lot of the hard work for you. Their soft goods (Imperial Boots) are not the most accurate but for level 1, they'll do.

Studio Creations armor/helmet kit

I found the Testors 1138 to match my RS snout, and that is the same color as used on TK buckets, but YMMV. -
Crow Props Scout Boots and Gloves -- My Take
Harbinger replied to Chopper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Soft Parts
I wonder if whatever machine Gio is using to make those soles can’t handle sharp details? Not to knock these, they are already a huge leap forward, but the soles aren’t 100% there IMO. -
Clean update, shouldn’t affect most builds. Well done. See you all at Lancer!

Studio Creations vs RS Props Helmet
Harbinger replied to iceknyght's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I believe RS uses a cured/2K paint so that would explain your experiences Corey. -
There is a guy on the main Legion boards who does them IIRC. (Wow, unopened! Nice!)

I glued some rubber wine corks that I cut in half to my end caps before putting them on my wire-wrapped TD, with similar thinking.

Way to go Mark! I knew you would succeed.

Oh, good to know then. I may have to snag a set. -

I recall hearing the ones on Amazon are black and the picture is incorrect, so it may be a lottery ordering through them. -
Congrats Retrofire, new Captain of the Guard!

Congratulations. -
Yep, guess that means no Celebration next year either.

Could you sew the magnets between the leather and inner liner perhaps?

Harbinger’s TB WIP (501st/Lancer Approved - but never done!)
Harbinger replied to Harbinger's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout WIP
Started on the knees. First things first, reinforcing the stress points. I made some pieces for the riveted area from scrap ABS and some reinforcing bits from a vinyl sign ($1 @ Home Depot!). The sign material is thin enough to conform to the contours of the slot area: Probably overkill but, rather be safe than sorry. I also polished up the slots so they won’t snag on the elastic. I am doing this to the bicep/forearm armor as well but likely won’t take more photos as it’s more of the same. Question, what’s the preferred/correct way to attach the elastic to the knee/bicep/etc. armor? Glue? Velcro? It seems most people use velcro but that seems like a lot of extra effort so I wonder why it is so prevalent. -
Looks a little light to me?

More progress! Gave my knee armor a water bath to make them fit my legs better, hard to show in photos (narrower one on bottom): I was able to finish my tank strapping, first sewing job, not the greatest but it’ll be hidden so all good: I think the top looks pretty accurate though!:
