I've started some preliminary investigation into the pouch design for the BARC. By my count (and I'm not an expert), it appears that there are 14 pouches on the BARC. Four on the front / belly, Four on the sides (2 each side), four on the back and two thigh / belt boxes. All measurements are guesses, 100% eye balled... Front Pouches(4): 2 smaller on top - 2" tall by 3" wide by 1" thick 2 larger on bottom - 5-6" tall by 3-4" wide by 1.5-2.5" thick Side Pouches(4): 2 smaller on top - 2" tall by 3" wide by 2" thick 2 larger on bottom - 3-4" tall by 3-4" wide by 1.5-2.5" thick Back Pouches(4): Kidney - 6-8" tall by 3-4" wide by 2-2.5" thick Lower spine - 5" tall by 6-7" wide by .5" thick (thick envelope style) Belt Boxes(2) - Tapered box 4-5" top /3" bottom wide by 4-5" tall by 1" thick. Appear to be attached to thighs, not free floating. I have some Army digital ACU fabric on order. I plan to make some pouches out of that material. Maybe dyed fabric. Who knows... I plan to construct plastic boxes out of thin plastic 'For Sale' signs then wrap them in the proper material (christmas present style). The plastic will give it shape / structure and the material will give it the right look / textures. I plan to post WIP pictures. I would love to hear other peoples take on the sizes and other details. Let me know what you think. DaVe front pouches... back pouches...

Does anyone have a set of coveralls or flightsuit that they are considering done? Anyone?

Ross, I think those lined-deerskin gloves will work well. I know I posted them originally, but I ended up ordering a completely different set of leather gauntlets. I went with these from Moto DirectUSA. I couldn't pass on the price. 1226 Leather Motorcycle Riding Glove - ~$14.00 They run alittle tight so I've had to exchange my first set for a larger size (2XL). I should have them by next week. This glove already has a leather wrist strap. I figure I can cover it up with a gray nylon strap for screen accuracy. I am just going to glue some scrap brown leather to the knuckles for the pads on the hand. Also for the forearm cuff, I've purchased an old black leather jacket from a thrift store ($4). I'm going to cut a section of the sleaves off and hook it to the glove with snaps. I figure it should end just about 2" to 4" from my elbow. I'll post WIP pics.

Is that texture or is that just CGI dithering? The cod piece may have to be up to personal interpretation / artistic license. From a practicality point of view, if I was being shot at... I'd want the strongest material (within reason) down there to protect my boys. My interpretation is a hard armor-type cod piece, attached at the top to the lower belt (black and silver belt) and probably a hidden snap or Velcro on the bottom. No strap running through the legs. Just my 2¢ DaVe

I agree with pghfett. From what I have seen, the cod piece appears to be a hard armor piece.

I think you nailed the design perfectly... Again, my clay sculpting skills really need some work. My plan is exactly what you just said... fabricate a lip (.5" to 1") around the outside of the piece. Then I would cut a hole in the leather and attach it from the underside. I'm thinking a strong flexible glue like E6000 instead of sewing. I'm also planning on adding some padding (1/4" to 3/8" foam) under that cuff to get the fuller forearm look. My gloves should arrive tomorrow.

Well, as an active participant in this community, I figure it is time to do my part. There has been some discussion on acceptable glove designs and one of the pieces it the gray rubber piece at the top of the glove. Some of the designs have shown the indented lines in the rubber piece to be all curved in one direction. After watching some of the BARC scenes again last night, it appears to me that the lines take a different pattern. I've tried to illistrate this in my weak attempt to draw this on my work computer. I am looking to make these pieces out of sylicone rubber. I am currently trying to mold this piece out of clay so that I can take a good cast of the gray rubber forearm piece. The first thing I've discovered, I am not very good at sculpting with clay. I will post my WIP as I go. Wish me luck. I am hoping to make a piece that I can mass produce. If someone is already working on this piece, let me know and I will save my efforts for something else. DaVe

Gene, I noticed you chopped the boots down to just above the ankle. It looks great. What effect did cutting the boot have on the inside zipper? Does the zipper come off if you zip up too high? Have you found a way to keep that from happening? I'm still considering the tan combat boot with laces, but these boots are quickly getting bigger on my radar screen.

Looks great... I can't wait to see the next phase!!!

Madphisto, That is an awesome breakdown and mock-up of the BARC glove. I was getting ready to order a different set of gloves this weekend, but I might wait. Do you know of a supplier for the gloves that you have shown in your post? I was going to order these deerskin gauntlets... I am curious... How do you intend to get that puffy-cuff look with your gloves? Are you planning to add padding to the inside of the forearms?

PGHFett, Your work is amazing... A couple questions: 1) How are you making these pieces? Fiberglass, ABS Plastic, etc...? 2) Are you able to more or are these one of a kind? 3) Are you considering selling parts? I can't wait to see more progress.... DaVe

What about this idea...? Gray Automotive Coveralls, with some Brown and Green fabric or spray paint. Under $40... Or... Coveralls ~$22.00 and they have brown. Thoughts?
