  1. If you watch the movie, both, helmets with both numbers of bumps ( recesses) are seen . the original mould from which all scout helmets were formed , was made of wood ( called jelutong I believe , used to make moulds regularly in industry back in the day ) half way through helmet production one of the bits in between the recesses broke off ( if you have ever pulled vac formed plastic off a curved mould, you will know how violent and hard it is ) , this damage was repaired by simply using car filler to smooth over the damaged area . All helmets pulled after the repair ( like the RS one) have less recesses . There is no right or wrong number , both appear on screen and both are in the archive .
  2. Mine is still green , I'm going to have a go at getting the green out , but to be honest will probably just buy a sand coloured one . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. For some reason auto correct replaced the word " just" with the word " not" No idea why , but I intended to say " I've just read Navajo bros excelent build diary " . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Ok, I've not read Navajo Bro's excelent Facebook blog ...cheers guy ! After a bit of wrangling I removed the white centre from one of my light lenses and cut off the securing tabs. Lining them up , all looks well . As we don't know what the dark circle in the middle of the white square is yet , I'm going to fake it with a small dot of paint or decal for now . However , my Chicago screws look to be the next size up ...I need smaller ones I think . Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Thevoriginal scout helmets were indeed painted a Ferrari white , but when they arrived at the costume department they were flatted down to make the weathering adhere . They were by the time they appeared on the film set , very matt indeed . White satin or matt paint ( or good old white primer) works just fine . Shiny buckets just look wrong , especially if the colour shade matches the armour exactly . Here's three RS scouts with matt helmets and unpainted abs armour ( just a little matt black aerosol weathering on the armour ...like the costume dept used on the movie ) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. So I have what are I suspect the correct red squares , and am going to use them , and the stitching on the bag to reference the dimensions for my ally plate ... all well and good , but here's the thing ...I initially assumed the white centre square was simply the white insides from a red one , but I can't get the white centre out . So ... what actually is the white centre square ? It appears to have a dark circle ( hole/ screw head/ rivet) in its centre . What is everyone using please ?? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I already have the bag from a uk army outfit I used to use , but that belt is proving difficult to find here in the UK . Its on uk eBay , but as an import from America. Its beginning to look like I'm going to have to spend four times it's value to get one inc shipping ...darn .
  8. You say customer service is bad because they wouldn't sell you just one part to allow you to finish another makers armour kit ? So why didn't you buy this piece from the company that sold you the armour originally ?
  9. RS use fresh plastic all the time , it's never more than a month old . The helmets aren't just plastic, they are painted just like the movie ones . They use colour matched paint to their original . with RS you are buying a replica of what they used in the movie ...not a cosplay costume . The armour plastic is custom made for RS , not commercial stock , and the helmets are painted . That's why they are a different colour/ surface .... just like in the movie . Screen accuracy sometimes shocks people , but at least you know its right !! Enjoy your helmet !!!
  10. Why not get a screen accurate one ? RS Propmasters .
  11. Nothing stopping you building the helmet , bolting it together is one of the last jobs on a helmet build, and you can just use a slightly undersized bolt to finish the job , somthatbwhen yourbspeedglass parts arrive you can open up,thenholes and fitbthem .
  12. The classic style bolts haven't Ben manufactured for a few years now, you have no hope of buying them from 3m direct as they send out their latest design . your only option is to use resin copies .
  13. The RS props helmet is cast from a production made helmet , that means it's an exact replica of the screen used helmets, exact in every detail . It's worth every penny of its price tag .
  14. Most ( all) of the photos in this thread have gone...looks like " tinypics" have gone the way of " photobucket"
  15. I was worried about drooping straps also , so I put a small invisible stitch in two places along their length to keep them in position .
  16. It's rubber stunt armour , the lip is to help structural integrity . Only used a few times , I don't think the c.r.l. Needs a separate " stunt" classification , unless some vendor wants to start producing stunt rubber armour !!!
  17. Are those I.B. Boots that you have cut the sole on ??? They look brilliant .
  18. This looks about right , but why did you make the bund so long ? Eight maybe nine inches deep seems to be the max .
  19. It adds screen accuracy !!! If your belt doesn't have webs between the boxes, or worse still has individual/ seperate boxes it just isn't screen accurate . In striving for screen accuracy you have to sometimes accept what might be seen as flaws , but are in reality, part of the charm of originality . In my opinion, Lancer should insist on webs !!!!
  20. Everything looks good , and should clear , but ideally you need the cummerbund to be shorter , and finish above the belt , which should be higher up on your waist. This would show more of the cod piece . But then again ..I'm no clearance officer . It ticks the c.r.l. Boxes so should be ok .
  21. Only the helmets were painted gloss Ferrari white , the rest was white abs . Instill think this is a bad idea ...sell it !
  22. Sell it and buy a white one. That's the simple answer .
  23. The cummerbund should only reach down to the top of your belt , so won't cover much of the riding flap. Its called the butt flap because it covers your butt ...make sure it does that .
  24. The blaster is a very tight fit , but their blaster mould was scaled from a cast of a real singlepoint scope . The holster itself is built as large as possible . The movie prop builders had the same problems , ever wondered why the singlepoint sight cast has one adjuster screwcap missing ? That's because with the cap on, the blaster doesn't fit !!!
  25. Ah, ok ..I thought it was weathering . UKG like them black and clean . See you out on the con circuit soon .
