Mine is an UnderArmor CoolMax, it is great! Never gets wet/sticky like some wicking products do, and is comfortable, not too tight or too loose. It also can be worn around the chin with open face, or just around the neck or around the nose and lower face as well so very versatile, and wasnt any more expensive than other comparable options and is a good brand too.

We can use 1/2 elastic on the bells now? Is that a new Lancer mod upcoming?
-
Lookin good man, the boxes seem to be hanging nicely. Your suede seems a bit shiny? Is it faux? Not saying it looks bad either just noticed it is particularly shiny looking.
-
Not sure how much it will help you or even if everyone here agrees but I have seen that in person guys under 6 feet seem to look better in the slightly smaller helmets like KS and SC and larger guys like 6 and up seem to look good in Cucblack, Altmans, RC etc...Ive never seen Chefs in person, but he makes good stuff too I am told. Maybe that helps you.

Does anyone display their armor on a mannequin?
BlitzJaeger replied to CoffeeBlack762's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
This one I have seen before andd it looks good with SW armor on it: http://store.voicebooster.com/male-mannequin-flexible-posable-full-size-in-black/ You can also make your own with old pajamas and duct tape (easy find online) just wrap yourself up and then cut it off and stuff it. -
So as you can see from the yes no yes no, you just gotta try for yourself...lol!

Honestly I think it comes down to your head and your glasses. Several people in my group wear glasses with out helmets and some cannot, so it really is just shape of head and which helmet. Both myself and some other guys wear glasses under our lids and I have a KS and they have an Altmanns and a SC. Several of my 501 friends have worn my helmet with glasses as well, and only 1 couldnt. So I am not trying to discredit what Retro said, but think it is just more of a person to person thing than a blanket yes or no....so I would say if you can, try and find some local guys and try on their helmets!!

Tank and back fitting with a gap (KS)
BlitzJaeger replied to TheBeardPrevails's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
While Mickey pointed out a little gap is alright (mind the gap joke) I was irritated by it and had to fix mine. I just kept test fitting and seeing where it was rubbing and sanded down a little layer at a time until it was fitting smoother. Honestly once you have stripes and weathering and such it wont be as noticeable as when you are putting together super clean blank white armor. On a side note, where the heck is that Sergeants tank topper greebly? -
Looks pretty good to me, except maybe your head is bent really far down but other than that lol. Which kit did you go with?
-
I wouldnt trust anything but the thicker ones honestly, I have seen the skinny ones bend enough to kink and never sit "right" again, that would be annoying on armor. Probably just have to test it out and see because the thicker ones may have the added side effect of making the bell "float" too much, each persons armor fits uniquely to them so only testing will show us I think... I would probably use a removable zip-anchor like Mickey suggested by adding a square of velcro to the anchor perhaps? Then again, maybe you could just have the illusion of zip ties, and not havee them touching anything, afterall my bells stay put with only the bicep straps, although I may add velcro to the inner bell for my suit someday.

Armor and helmet advice for a tk new to scouts
BlitzJaeger replied to tk 7261's topic in Getting Started
As Cheyenne says: The SC will look fine on you, it is nearly the same size. I just personally think the Kropserkel is slightly better looking, mostly because the KS has ridges inside the mask that seal against the visor and give it a cleaner look from the front and has a really nice return edge under the chin that matches the movie helmets. The SC and KS are very similar in shape and size especially around the snout, but the SC and KS greebly are both in need of replacement for better accuracy. I would go with Far Away Creations for the Stickers and Snout Greebly. Also the KS has a nice black lens that is gray and easy to see through from the wearers side but very very dark from the outside, where as the SC has a green tinted visor (do you want to see EVERYTHING in green?) and has to have strange tabs mounted inside to hold the lens (if you want it replaceable and follow their instructions). All said and done, it is your decision. I personally like SC armor with a KS helmet, but thats just my one opinion. -

Welcome bush dodger! Unfortunately the truth is, it will be very difficult to keep a full build under $800... Hard armor parts are going to eat up half that budget from the start, and helmets can be in the $300 range built, so if you need to stay under that limit you are going to need to do a lot of building yourself, including the boots which run $150-$200 depending on the maker. Gloves are $60 from Wampa Wear and a Blaster is anywhere from $50-$100 depeding on which you get. This doesnt include the cost of materials to build some parts, or your flight suit ($30 unmodded, $145+ modded), bund (~$100) and pouches (~$40). Which you will want to sew yourself most likely if you are sticking to a budget strictly. Not trying to scare you away from the build by any means though, I believe if you have the will and motivation you can do it, but it will take some work on your part. I think it is important to know going into this however, what the real world costs usually are. At any rate, your most valuable asset is THIS SITE. People on here are more than eager to help and answer any questions, which is a good idea to do before spending money or trying to build things without any guidance. Hope you decide to squeeze the trigger and join us!

That was my biggest concern, I have a relatively small tote (The half size Husky as it were) and I need to be able to put the bells in separately...
-
Excellent point. It is interesting that considering it had been around 30 years by that point that nobody had thought to make it sticky! It is so useful now. I think like many of the other suits (cough cough omg Sandtroopers cough dies x_X) they just did things with the mentality "Oh well this is easy and cheap and fixes the problem right now and nobody will ever knowwww....." Little did they realize that years later a bunch of clinically insane adults would be buying 1970s Starburst candies and scratching off the wording of the red wrapper to make an accurate red light on a suit...lol

Great find Mickey! My guess was they did this for one practical reason: Many of you know there were around 20 scout helmets made and it would be a pain to keep up with 20 sets of armor as it is, and then have 40 loose bells roaming around the film set already covered in white armor. So they zip-tied the suckers on with readily available materials and save the bells running away.

This was the first thing I asked Mickey, those corners are sharp enough to cut trees in half.

Knee armour, not riveting elastic
BlitzJaeger replied to Canterbury Tail's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
I did my knees this way and so did Proxis. I originally riveted the elastic in, but upon finding out I need white, I redid them with the rivets and a snap behind them. The elastic is attached with snaps. I will put it in my build thread =) -
Advance Recon Team (ART) discussion
BlitzJaeger replied to BikerScout007's topic in Advance Recon Teams
I was given some stickers as a recruit and then 501 patches and stickers after I became official by Proxis, out event coordinator. He even gave me a scout coin when I became a Scout. =) I think people enjoy little gifts like that. I believe it was stated earlier that right now there is no minimum membership, just your interest to involve others, with an online presence your local connections are less important and it becomes more about helping and answering questions. (Which is why they are pushing the idea of the leaders going Lancer and knowing the ins and outs of the Scout.) -
Youll be fine like that, the rivets hold well against the plastic. I added magnets to mine I will make sure and post pics in my build thread.

Advance Recon Team (ART) discussion
BlitzJaeger replied to BikerScout007's topic in Advance Recon Teams
I am interested in starting one myself as Mickey can tell you from me doing strafing runs on his PM box (Sorry mate) I realize this is more of a mentoring program and help group than a social thing, which is fine, that was already what I was doing and our group is already plenty social (like we see each other weekly). I have contacted my Garrison leaders for official permission to begin the ART here in the Midsouth Garrison (if such a thing is required?) But no answers yet. Looking forward to making more scouts! -
Just keep your silver and white paint handy fellas! So just to reiterate where we ended up, White knees and all else silver, if you found yourself doubting...

NC TK hoping to move to TB/Short trooper concerns
BlitzJaeger replied to Comfy Turtle's topic in Getting Started
FAC/Mc makes some good stuff but their wait times can be abysmal. I have a friend who is still waiting on his TK armor from almost TWO YEARS AGO!!! Plus, I have heard (others chime in if you know) that the chest armor is not the right proportions, I believe Mickey said it has the wrong "underboobage" if my memory serves. -
Half of the Lancer applications you cant even see what color belt rivet they have, some look silver others look white, and then Mickey said this here: So I believe the Knees are white and everything else is Silver. =)
