Welcome Erik, it's nice to see another Sactown future scout. I remember you from that game in your pics. This is a great place to hang out and learn all you need. Feel free to post questions we will all join in and help.

Way to go! Congrats!

Hi Robert and welcome. Altmann's Helmet is terrific especially if you have a larger hat size. He hand crafts them himself so it will take longer to receive but it is well worth the wait in my opinion.

Pictures are a hard read since they don't always give a representation of true color but they look a little too light to me. A little more reddish brown than black. Maybe you could dye them in black to darken them up a bit? One idea I've seen other use is that they use snaps to attach the mudflap so they can remove it if they need to wash the suit. Thanks Peter, When I bought it from JoAnn's it looked black but I agree it seems to be a different color. I like the idea of the snaps for the mudflap. Somebody around here has a template for the riding patch. Take in mind the mudflap needs fit your build. Not to wide, short or too long. Maybe someone can pop in with it. Thanks Tim, I do have the template. Looking more closely at the pictures I thing the real issue is the Red Kap. It is too baggy for me to see how the template is working. I think I am going to remove the mudflap and have it tailored before trying the patches.

So, I am starting on the patches and mudflap. Still working on the pattern, but I am concerned that the patches and mudflap are the wrong color. When I bought the suede it was black but looking at the pictures they look gray. It also appears I may have tailor the Red Kap more.

I agree, you will need to remove the grommets at the top and I am seeing some waves in the front. It should be smooth. Pull, stretch, heat, repeat several times to get it nice and smooth. Usually about three or four times. Keep working.

The side pockets should be sewn if there is a gap when you wear it. My pockets were white inside and could be seen when I wear it, so I sewed mine shut. Other than that there are two chest pockets, two side pockets, two back pockets and one leg pocket just above the knee.

Nice job! Really impressive. I guess we all need to think like a Lancer when we put our suit on.

Thanks for pointing that out. I will get some paint and ensure it is the same color.

Thanks Jonas

I have been working on my boots and have finished except for the holster and pistol. I would love some feedback. The link to the photos is below. Let me know if it doesn't work and I will try again. http://s447.photobucket.com/user/morja/library/Biker%20Scout%20Build

Advice for Sewing suede onto the jumpsuit
Dmorja replied to TheScouterSays's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Thanks for the topic. I am getting the patches this weekend so this was very helpful. -
Thanks, for making that sound really simple. I am going to give it a try.

Hi, I got my Red Kap today. It fits great in the shoulders, chest, arms, and mid-section. However, the legs and backside are super baggy. I will need to take this in, which I have never done before. Is this an easy process for someone with no sewing experience or should I just take it to a tailor to have it fitted? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow, looks great!

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I have been reading and taking a lot of notes. Learning the abbreviations for the armor companies has taken a while, but I am completely enjoying this.

Hi, I am obviously new and a huge Star Wars geek. I have always wanted to join the 501st and since I am a motorcyclist the Biker Scouts was my first choice. Getting started will be the biggest obstacle and from what I have read it looks like research is where I start. I am looking forward to this and would appreciate any help and/or advice. Thanks
