  1. Makes sense Jim, and the pull on the detail looks pretty sharp which would catch dirt well
  2. Ok, updates. As suggested, I have used the zip tie method to attach shoulder bells. Currently I have used Velcro which give me adjustment. No issues so far at troops. Chest to back strap have also been resized as suggested Shoulder bells have been shortened & reshaped as suggested My hump was pretty well attached, so I added the strap for visual look only. I may look at doing the complete strap system later down the line
  3. Thanks Joe. I thought not, but seeing the attached pics and others I have seen I thought it worth checking. Shadows, grit & all sorts sometimes make it hard to judge an image.
  4. So I had some suggestions on updates which I am working through. Pics to follow. So quick question. I have been wondering about the slots detail on the holster. Are these cut out? References pics that made me wonder http://www.bikerscout.net/forum/uploads/1144441146/gallery_1_4_25256.jpg http://www.bikerscout.net/forum/uploads/1144441146/gallery_1_4_24864.jpg
  5. Hiya Phil. Good choice for a costume for her. After going through Clone trooper, sandtrooper etc. I never looked back . Comfort is just bliss.
  6. Congrats
  7. Congrats. Nice job.
  8. Weathering my scout was a tricky thing. The screen accurate weathering isn't very realistic to the environment they were in. It basically looked like it was a rush job with a spray can. I don't think it looks great, so i went for a light balance between the two. Probably something i will tinker with some more. While you can go the screen accurate route, it a more permanent job without room for error. Personally i used acrylic paints which i used on my clone and sandtrooper. If you screw up you can clean up and start again. I would personally avoid any sort of sandpaper as again, it more permanent and tricky to roll back from. I tend to use sponging and try and get heavier in the areas it would naturally go. But with the scout i was trying to get it similar to the screen used look without it looking like a spray can, if that makes sense.
  9. The cummerbund should be tight enough to stay in place, but velcro on the flight suit should do the job. Mine is tight and doesn't move. The belt should fit tight enough to sit in place. How does it join? Velcro, snaps/
  10. You can use white webbing, but straps & pouches need to be white also. Shoulder straps should be around an inch i believe I used a solid piece joined with elastic on the underside for the shoulder straps. Make it tight & it will sit in place very well. Under arm straps should be cotton webbing 40mm . It's suggested to use elastic on the ends for flexibility. This can be velcroed on the inside of the armor. Or snaps can be used. The strap could be sewn on one end. In screen grabs it looks like it might be done on the front, but if you dress yourself that could be awkward. I done the reverse. I believe elastic is still acceptable for basic approval but webbing looks better White webbing also for the drop boxes. I hope that makes sense.
  11. Not necessarily. Apparently it was attached with a strap. I have seen some good ways to do it here. I will post a link if i can find it. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=16060
  12. Looks very cool
  13. Cool. Weathering is beautiful
  14. On the armor use industrial strength velcro. It sticks very well under stress. Make sure the under arm strap is reasonably tight. If your using 12mm elastic straps i find Velcro of the same width on the end isn't enough. Sew something wider for the velcro Joining. For shoulder top attachment i just updated to the ziptie method. Seems to work ok. It usually takes a few troops to work out the problems of any costume anyway.
  15. Anti fog spray used by motorcyclists work good in lids with little room for ventilation
  16. Good luck . SC is a nice kit
  17. Congrats on the approval trooper, well done
  18. Didn't really do action shot on the photos for this. Hopefully this will do
  19. Awesome, Thanks guys . Delighted Will be working through the other suggestions as well .
