  1. And depending on where you are in So Cal, we have some posted for San Diego and surrounding areas on the Imperial Sands Garrison forums. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Love the removable tank, that's a great mod you did there! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. It doesn't really matter because it's hidden by the cumberbund.
  4. Agreed. Pandatrooper's build thread is fantastic. I incorporated many of his suggestions like how to fit the tank, the strapping on the belt, and elastic on the inside of the boot holster. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. I put my elastic on first, sewn at the inseam, then put the riding patch over top of the elastic and sewed it down. The straps are loose around the legs except where it's sewn down via the riding patch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Yes mine has some wonkiness from left to right but it looks fine all together. Here are some pics to try illustrate: http://imgur.com/48Lt5P5 With this pic I lined up the tape measure even with the ears. You can see on the right that the lip that meets up with the visor is longer on this side. http://imgur.com/wtHqEjC On this pic, I lined up the tape measure with the edges of the visor. As you can see, it's not square to the front of the visor. The tape measure shows that it's on an angle, with less room on the right than the left. http://imgur.com/Yasioqq Ok the tape measure isn't perfectly lined up front to back here, but look at the ears. You can see the on one the right is much more forward than the one on the left. http://imgur.com/BuJYsKM Top view. The ears are lined up left to right, so you can see the edge of the visor is not on the same parallel. But when it's on, nobody can see these things. I'm very happy with my Altmann helmet. Is this the wonkiness you were speaking of, Pean12? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I just got my Sub Assault and DoopyDoos kit last week. I'm looking forward to experimenting with painting and weathering. I would like to carry something other than a weapon sometimes :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. The corners of the shoulder bells should be rounded. Pandatrooper has an excellent build thread that explains it brilliantly. Check it out! (I'm on mobile or I'd link it directly for you). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I haven't had any trouble with my bund drooping or slipping. I have no supplemental restraint other than the Velcro closure. I suggest trying that first and then modifying if you find you need additional attachment. Flakvest must be separate from both the flight suit & the bund for Lancer qualifications. 10. Here's a great source for the pig suede: http://www.tandyleather.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/9122-21.aspx Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Marcel here on the boards has made many sets of cummerbunds and pouches. I bought mine from him and highly recommend his work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It really depends on how it looks when you're wearing it. But here are a couple pics of my riding patch. It took a lot of adjustments to the pattern and multiple fitting sessions. Definitely glad I had help with pinning & fitting. http://imgur.com/VywYFad http://imgur.com/8byK5iK Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I love my Altmann helmet but I did make a bunch of minor alterations. Changing out the rounded bolts to the flat 3M ones required some cutting/sanding/gluing of the bolt holes in the helmet to make them fit. Also they were too short so I had to piece something together to hold the hard hat liner inside. The hard hat liner also required modifying in order to fit the helmet and my head. I also trimmed down the inside top edge of the visor a bit to decrease the rubbing when opening the visor up. I still need to open up the ears on mine -- they're painted on the surface currently -- if I want to go Lancer. I've only had it a few months and have been careful but a couple cracks have begun to appear in the thinner plastic edge on the bottom by the snout. Here's what my helmet looks like now with the modified bolts etc. http://imgur.com/y4SGv4W Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Nice! Looks good!! I recently picked up a hyperfirm DLT-19 from slavefive and I love it. My scout blaster is resin though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Congratulations! Welcome to the Pathfinders! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah I had her make my vest. It was too large and sleeves too long. She remade it for me at no cost just a couple months ago and fits much better now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. EFX presold their product and have been showing their prototype at conventions and such for over 2 years now, but to my knowledge has yet to be shipped and keeps getting delayed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I chatted with Ron from THG props at Celebration and checked out his Scout blaster. It looked great! Some info here: https://m.facebook.com/EvilboyCustomProps/posts/763798220370062 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Can you provide info on your throat mic please? I researched throat mics I read some would work and others wouldn't with the icomm/aker setup. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I tried wearing sportswear made of moisture-wicking material under my jumpsuit but I found it actually wicked the sweat into the jumpsuit, which meant it had to be washed more often so that wasn't a good solution. i have since switched to wearing a cotton shirt instead so it absorbs the sweat more. 21. One of the best tips I have taken: add Velcro to the suit and to the underside of the armor. No more shifting! Imagine a crease running down the outside of your sleeve, like a collared shirt. All the armor should be centered on that crease line. The lower piece of armor can overlap the glove a bit if necessary and should not be tucked into the glove. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Nice job on Lancer status! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Just don't use the rivets that come with the riveter - they're too short for most of the jobs. That's what I found, anyway, and I had to then cut down the existing rivets and re do them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. No it's not a hammer, there's a riveting device that essentially pulls a nail through the head, enlarging it so it holds. These rivet tools look like this: http://t.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/hand-riveters.html?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F It's important to get rivets that are long enough for the materials you wish to connect together. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. Sounds like you're in a good place! I had some issues with the boot holster rivets and would like to share this advice: 1) after making holes in the vinyl boots for the rivets, sew around them to reinforce the holes and ensure they don't stretch/tear with use. 2) make sure your rivets are long enough! The ones that came with my riveting tool from Harbor Freight were too short and I had to remove them, redo the riveting, and create larger backing plates to hold everything together. 3) use a backing plate (washer) every time you rivet so that the rivet holds. I don't see your flickr link but it could be because I'm on Tapatalk for mobile. Welcome and enjoy!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
