Everybody take a breath. No accusations here yet, just a lot of confusion and understandable frustration. All this currently rests on John, and since John has (for whatever reason, innocent or less than) been short on communication. As the first person with any tangible knowledge of or connection to him, Karl did jump on you a bit. I'm sure you were unfortunately the first release he's had over this, and caught his increasing worry and irritation on this issue. Not either of your faults, just some crossfire.

I AM HUGE.

Unfortunately the top link is borked too. Slap the pics on imgur/photobucket?

Yeah, I simply picked up three sheets of white sticky-back foam at a local craft store (Michael's). Traced the codpiece of the bund, cut one, used that as a template to cut the other two, then trimmed them all down a little so they wouldn't show . Sandwiched them together and stuck them to the inside of the bund. Boom, no more cameltoe. Which as a guy, is not a problem I ever thought I'd have to fix.

SC armor building materials
EnigmaEngine replied to Fistful of Energon's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Pretty much what's been said. For rivets you'll want 3mm by 3mm (1/8") aluminum, and matching washers; I found both at Lowe's, though I got my riveter at Home Depot. 1/8" diameter by 1/4" long was useful for one or two spots where I had to go through multiple layers of fabric and plastic. You'll need a matching drill bit...and drill, obviously. E6000 worked great for me..can be found at craft stores (Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Hancock Fabrics). Sturdy scissors/shears to trim edges and round corners. A few clamps to hold things in place, both while adhesive sets, and while drilling or testing fit before riveting things in. I ended up using some more elastic, velcro, and fabric than what was provided, but some of it was because I'm a big guy. 6'3" and 230 lbs. So I needed more than what was provided in places. I also used some extra to fix issues I specifically had, such as fixing my belt sagging down by adding patches to hold it to the front and back of my bund. You'll need something to make the cloth loops that bridge the gap over the shoulders between chest and back...I got someone who sews to make mine out of white canvas, and glued the ends in place with E6000. I managed to make mine without a dremel/rotary tool, but there were definitely times I wished I had one. Picked it up since. -
According to the CRL, yes, it needs to be secured in back with 2" wide white velcro for Snow Scout.

Looking really nice. Well done! -
Soon to get started, need some advice on an armor
EnigmaEngine replied to BlackTaz's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I'm....I'm just going to wince a little. That isn't the worst I've seen, but looks like a definite case of "get what you pay for." The completed one is a bit of a hot mess by BSN standards. -
Congrats, Karl!

I call it weathering.

What you want is to host the image elsewhere (photobucket, imgur) And to use the "Image" function above where you type your post's text. The button looks like a little picture.

I've got a pair of foam blocks inside mine, but a garrison-mate is making plastic box inserts for his and is planning to offer them to others at some point. I swear there was someone overseas that offered boxes as well.

Scout.Trooper's Scout Trooper Build!
EnigmaEngine replied to scout.trooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
Just boxers, socks, and a tight white tanktop. Enjoy that mental picture. -
I should've made this clearer when we spoke yesterday, but we were both mid-work and some of it got glossed over. Yeah, velcro or snaps is gonna be easier and more reliable anyway....and I don't even undo it to put my armor on. I just pull the whole shebang over my head, then fasten the bottom strap of the shoulder bells. Fun fact, spellcheck dinged "velcro" but not "shebang".

mlbukowski's sc armor build
EnigmaEngine replied to BikerScout007's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Looks so weird without the bund. But it also looks like it's coming along very nicely! Good job! -
Man, that tank striping and rank bars are like night and day. Great job!
-
....and now we play the waiting game!
-
Ooo. Which is it? It looks big, but I imagine you have daintier fingers than my freakish, bulky man-hands.

Need armor (made or kit) by this March.

Waiting for parts of your build to arrive is as much work as the build itself, I swear.... -

Yeah. SC is the way to go here. It's within your budget, and ships very quickly. -
Well clearly TB stands for "Trooper Badass".
-
It originates from the line in A New Hope "TK-421, why aren't you at your post?" From there, it just seems to be a pair of letters that makes some sense. "SL" -Sith Lord. "BH" - Bounty Hunter. "IG" Imperial Gunner. And so forth.
-
I can't answer the second two, since I've got a different bucket. But in regards to the first, my armor got shipped out from them in under a month. Might've only been a couple of weeks, but I think it was between 3-4. Very quick, all things considered.
-
Aye. I have my pouches attached to the inside-top of the bund, and the inside of the bund velcroed to the front of my vest, all hidden by my chest armor.

Scout.Trooper's Scout Trooper Build!
EnigmaEngine replied to scout.trooper's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout HQ
I used store-bought aluminum washers with a 1/8" hole to match the rivets. Mostly used 1/8" long rivets, but I did use a couple 1/4" long where they had to go through more material. I figure rust-resistant is more important than metal fatigue. I can always pop a new rivet in, versus the potential for rust with all the moisture from rain, humidity, and sweat.
