Looking for a little help here
EnigmaEngine replied to mlinetzky's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Weapons
Technically, none of them are on the crl. But that's only going to matter on "canon" troops. I've been carrying a regular E-11 just to have something that's chunkier than my holdout and looks right, while slowly talking to a friend about building a scoped DLT-19. There's been a load of back-and-forth debate on it, but there's not really a right or wrong answer. Battlefront 2 had scouts carrying the DC-15x. The DLT-19 was in the movies, and I've seen at least one instance of scouts using them in a comic (as well as E-11's). So it's really up to you, what you like better and think you can build. I'm doing a DLT-19 just because there's more info/builds for them, and you don't need the extra stuff covering the barrel that the DC-15x has. So for a COMPLETELY accurate costume...none of them. Because sniper rifles are awesome and it makes sense that TB's would have them, take your pick. -
Go, man, go! Keep those blasters firing! Welcome to the fold!

Looking good, scout!

Neat. Curious to see the finished version and price. -
Yeah, that looks fine!

If you have interest down the road, both CB and MLCv3 helmets are fiberglass and spoken of highly here. -

I got mine for eight bucks from a local military surplus shop. Heard good things about UnderArmor. -
This is good and useful, and Scott's being wonderfully helpful....but the thread thus far made me laugh.

Scout ammo belt armor needed
EnigmaEngine replied to NorvelleScout05's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
You could order the individual part from SC. -
Best way to avoid being overwhelmed: take it one part at a time. Turn it into manageable bite-sized chunks. SC is a fantastic kit, and a good one for smaller frames. PandaTrooper's build will be of particular use for you; he's a smaller frame and shows a lot of detail on how he trimmed it. But look at lots of builds....you never know where you'll pick up a good tip. Feel free to ask things, feel free to send PM's, be patient, etc.

Same as Jim in mine. 1" thick cut to size. If I need room for wallet/keys/phone, I can take one out (two blocks in each pouch normally).
-
And it's never really "done." You get to approved, then you start wearing it at troops, seeing pics, and you find things that need to be tweaked. Little touches and adjustments for fit, the look of the thing. Then wear shows. I got approved in February, and I made a round of improvements...recently followed by minor cleaning and repair in preparation for May 4th. I still don't know how I got hot pink....lipstick? Nail polish? On the front of my belt.

It's like goldfish poop. It'll break off and float to the bottom, just watch. -

Hancock Fabrics and Hobby Lobby both provided some of the extra I needed for my build. The former had a better selection of both velcro and elastic, however. -
Or paint the inside (where it shows) black. Either works, although open ears are required for Lancer.

Ouch. I....I rednecked the heck out of my boxes. Secured them to the webbing with....wait for it....white duck tape.
-
A discussion happened somewhere that figured with the placement of the "scope" on the holdout blaster, it's probably linked to a HUD in the helmet lens rather than being something you actually look through. I'd imagine the same may well go for their rifles, in which case the shade of the visor would be a boon.
-
For adjusting the straps, I put the boxes on them and held them in back with clamps, adjusting until the boxes hung right. Then rivet. Though by the look of your build, you're not having any problems!
-
Mine remains open if I push it all the way up and don't nod or walk. But I didn't build it, so I couldn't say why. I assume Jedi magic.

Coming along great!

Cheap foam on permanent mounting tape on the bottom edge for me. That return edge was a killer without it.
-
Godspeed. You are a braver and possibly more talented man than I, taking on a Rubies.

SC is fast. Think I got mine in less than a month of ordering....might even have been three weeks. It's a really good kit, too.

mlbukowski's sc armor build

Looking great! If you want to remove the infamous TB cameltoe; sticky-backed foam on the inside of the bund codpiece. Inexpensive and does the job. -
