  1. A TD greeblie is the black plastic model piece that's on the face of the thermal detonator (TD). The vest is a black flak vest. There's pics in the gallery section.
  2. Cool. I'm probably gonna buy a pair as soon as I hear back from my liaison. Got plenty of other things to work on while I patiently await my MC armor
  3. I asked the question again in another thread Winter, since this one wasn't being answered. I was told that in at least one garrison, they are made to have absolutely no pockets. But...I also was told to ask my local garrison clearance officer if they would approve it with the pocket covered. I finally joined the VA Garrison forum the other day, and am awaiting a response from my garrison liaison. Should know something soon. (at least for VA anyways) I'd actually like to hear some more opinions on this board. I was going to buy a pair of the Red-Kap coveralls until the pocket question stopped me dead in my tracks. This can't be the first time someone has bought a coverall with front pockets that are not removable. Is there any way around this Winter? I see you have sewing/tailoring skills from some of the threads you've started.
  4. Congrats!!!
  5. Congrats future Garrison mate...from the tidewater area. I'm sure our paths will cross!
  6. I assume you own the Lonewolf lid?!? If so....you're one lucky guy. That's a fine piece of craftsmanship. I'm gonna try modifying an SC bucket to look like a LW/accurate helmet for my build. Should be fun [ or nerve racking ] to say the least.
  7. Sweet!!!! Thanks Eric for taking the time to help novices like myself. Much appreciated.
  8. From what I've read, I think KS is the route you want to go Ben. SC is the smallest, MC next, and then KS.
  9. Good call, and thanks for the heads up. Cheers mate!
  10. Ouch! Be careful man. Looks great so far!
  11. Sorry just trying to help. I really need to get in touch with my future garrison so I can try on different lids. Lesson learned.
  12. Wow, that is tight. Nothing like having the bridge of your nose mashed in. Can you trim more at the top of the snout to accommodate? Maybe some padding on the top to push your eye level further down.
  13. I asked that exact same question in another thread. That's depressing to know Eagerly :/ I was hoping the front pockets could at least just be sewn over since they are in the natural pattern for the Redkap coverall. I haven't found a suit of any type that doesn't have front pockets here in the States. Guess this is gonna make me have to open up the budget even further. Man, this is one expensive hobby Cha-Ching, Cha-Ching, Cha-Ching!!!!
  14. It's so hard to know exactly what lid to go with. Wish they had a virtual fitting room on the Internet. Where does it feel too snug at Ben?
  15. I thought MLC was a tight lid too. You may have to go the KS route if you want extra room as well. What's your head circumference?
  16. I think the glued in line is actually how the originals were done Phillip. I studied the pics this week since I'm starting my boot build soon. I even think they made the backs look flush, and glued the sides in lower than flush. Nice job so far. Keep it up.
  17. That's a pretty nice fringe benefit to have! I look forward to seeing how your project turns out Marcel. Once I finally get my scout built, I would love to tackle something like this. I weld as well.
  18. That looks awesome! Definitely gives it a much smoother/detailed look. Are you going to do the welding work yourself?
  19. I don't think any of the 3 will work James. The first one due to the insert and 2-tone color. The other 2 because of the 2-tone color alone. You can always paint them though and go for the weathered look. Do you have any liquidator type stores in your area? (Ex. Burlington Coat Factory, CW Price, Marshalls, Rugged Wearhouse, etc...) I found a pair of Fila boots yesterday at Burllington for $30.00. CW Price had a pair of 1-colored soles for $20. Seemes like all of the major stores are going with the 2-toned soles. Here's a pic of the ones I bought. They were comfier than the cheaper ones at CW price, but are going to take a little more work to get them Lancer apprroved.
  20. If your anything like me James, you'll be "reading a ton, and rereading and reading it again" for months! lol I think it's best that way. I want to make sure I do this thing right to begin with. I've been on BSN since right after Celebration, and I'm still learning everyday. We'll be future Garrison Tyranus squad mates...although across the state from one another.
  21. This may seem like a silly question, but it's one I haven't seen answered on BSN. Since all pockets are required to be removed on the flightsuit, does that include the actual front leg pockets. I can easily understand any chest and back pockets, but don't know what to do with the fronts that are part of the general pattern. Sorry for high jacking the thread. :/
