  1. Like I said, I use the Red Kap coveralls for several costumes. They really are great for the price. But these front pockets are in no way removable. The only solution would be to sew them down. But I do not see them being an issue really. The belt boxes that hang down on the side should obscure them quite handily.
  2. It does. Thanks! And since I intend to go for Lancer I am trying to take all those steps in the initial construction.
  3. OK. That's an easy fix to add a Velcro closure to the collar. But here is another question. If this feature of the jump suit is so important and can keep a person from getting approved, why is it not part of the CRL?
  4. I have seen that several here have recommended the Red Kap CT10 coveralls as a great low cost way to go. I love these and have used them for a couple costumes as they are inexpensive, durable, and are easy to modify into a variety of configurations. And this is the route I plan on going for my TB as well. The Biker Scout CRL doesn't say anything about the collar but I have seen posts here that state that a TB will not be approved with the collar as is on the Red Kap coveralls. I am working on a Kal Skirata for the BHG and I modified the collar on a pair of Red Kap coveralls into a mandarin collar. Will this be acceptable for a TB since I will be wearing a balaclava or does it have to be the Velcro tab style that I see some members have? Here is the pic of the mandarin collar I put on a set of Red Kap coveralls. Thanks for any help!
  5. Anyone care to weigh in? I am curious about these pockets as well since they can't be removed.
  6. Here is what I came up with. The pouches are just pinned on since I made those to be velcro'd to the chest armor. Also, notice there is no camel toe. What do ya think?
  7. Here is a screen cap that is a really good pic showing that the cummerbund ends at the bottom of the pouch. http://s1167.photobucket.com/albums/q627/Arnie_DK/BR%20stills/?action=view&current=Bunker2.jpg
  8. Alright. Thanks for the input. The images I was looking at are in this thread. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=9637&hl=%2Bvertical+%2Bstitching&fromsearch=1 This deff shows the cummerbund stopping at the belt. But if everyone does it where the belt sits on top of the cummerbund, then that is how I will do it.
  9. Alright. I've been digging through the boards using the search function and zooming in on screen caps all night. And I am looking for some input from the more experienced TB's here. The cummerbund has some overlap at the top from the chest armor. That I get, and I am assuming that if it comes up to the pectoral I should be fine for overlap from the chest armor, correct? But it is the bottom that I am curious about. The CRL says that there should be no gap between the belt and cummerbund. And some of the reference pics show that the belt and cummerbund do not overlap, but basically butt up against each other with the cummerbund ending at the bottom of the pouches. This means that the crotch flap is a little longer so the curved stitching on the crotch flap is just below the belt in front. This would give me a vertical measurement of the belt pouch plus about 3". But it looks like some people have the cummerbund long enough so that the belt sits on top of the cummerbund. What method do you recommend? Which is better?
  10. I made it on my computer and taped them together.
  11. Thanks. I'm willing to make these for anyone who wants them. Just send me a PM.
  12. I made my second one to Lancer specs with no exposed stitching. It is on the left. And here is a shot of it open.
  13. I added the top stitching for durability since the entire thing is two layers of duck cloth. I'll make the next one without it.
  14. Greetings all! I finally got some time to begin working on my TB stuff. First up, I figured I would start of with something easy. Pouches! I got the dimensions from Batninja's build thread (Thank you) and took it from there. First off, I made a 1:1 pattern on grid paper with seam allowances. I also made a separate pattern for the flap for attaching the pouch to the underside of the chest armor. I used my handy dandy rotary wheel cutter to cut out two layers of the duck cloth. I made it out of two layers so it would have a better look and hold its shape better. I sewed the two pieces together, turned them right side out and top stitched it. Then I sewed on the Velcro tabs and back flap. And lastly, sewed up the sides. Voila! Comments, suggestions and critiques are very welcome. Let me know if you would like any other views. I plan on drafting a pattern for the cummerbund tomorrow. Cheers!
