  1. They look really good to me. I made the mistake on both my pairs of being too skimpy on the toes and was barely able to cover so to me yours look great.
  2. Cool, keep us posted. Would love to see pictures of your progress
  3. It went over quite well. Melted a hole in the helmet lense like a blaster mark then did makeup for a blasted eye underneath. People loved it. Also for weathering I watered down black green and brown craft paint and dabbed each colour on with a rag.
  4. On my zombie that was mentioned earlier I used a combination of ideas posted. The tea idea worked great. I also just took the bund and ground it into my front lawn and then through my flowerbed. Rubbing it across the grass put grass stains all over at random. I have no plans on washing it so as far as durability I doubt it will last. I also used the tooth brush flicking idea on it but it was with red paint (for blood) it was a zombie after all. The spray created looks very natural.
  5. Oh and I do the belt last. I use a soldering iron to melt the holes for the rivets in the strapping. Makes a much neater hole without tangles.
  6. The scout is a pretty easy build. The instructions that came with the kit help a tonne. I always start mine by moulding the pieces with a heat gun so they fit a bit tighter. I then cut the slots for the strapping. If you cut/widen the slots first you run a better chance of heating up the armor too much in those areas and warping it. Once thats done I move onto cutting my 2" squares of velcroe and attaching them to the armor. Next is the measuring of the strapping and sewing. I always attach the back hump and bits at the end. All in all it's an easy build. My first one took about 8 hours of work for the armor. The boots are actually pretty simple just follow the boot tutorial. Welcome to the forum and good luck on the build
  7. Oh and SC Rmor is a fantastic choice Jeff and the guys there have top notch customer service and extremely fast turn around times. I can't say enough good things about them.
  8. Just seen some boots at walmart for $35 (Canadian) that have gum colored soles. If you are willing to follow the boot tutorial it's actually pretty easy to make your own boots for a fraction of the cost.
  9. C6... I wish. Wayyyyy to far away for me to make it. As for the ripped gloves that's another good idea.
  10. My assembled one was about 3 weeks later then quoted
  11. The helmets are pretty decent. If he has a new mold I'm really excited about seeing it... Post pics when it arrives
  12. Hmm I bet I could figure out an Ewok arm...
  13. Hmmm good idea though not sure how to do it... Maybe a scorch mark or two
  14. 501st approved?? what do you think?
  15. as per requests from friends I added a bit more gore... here is the finished project melted a hole in the hump and added a set of flashing led lights (red, yellow, green) I placed circuit boards from my old ps3 inside as well added more blood as thats what people kept wanting Thought about putting a lightsaber through the side of the armor but do you think it will be too much?
  16. weathered the cummberbund just rubbed it in grass and dirt but I am definitely going to try the tea trick. made some boots added weathering blasted the helmet a bit now just need to buy zome zombie contacts and zombie makeup to wear under the helmet.
  17. That looks great Chimei! Thanks for the tip!
  18. I'm not really sure if I want to wreck the bucket but I might put a scorch mark on much like the chest piece
  19. Also thinking about perhaps an Ewok arrow through the lens but not sure... Something needs to be done with the helmet though
  20. Hmm good idea! I'm also thinking about splashing a little acid on the fabric to eat it away in a couple spots leaving holes
  21. I think I might just do that!!
  22. so I decided to make a cummberbund to go with the zombie since I didn't want to wreck one of mine. I have had no sewing lessons or anything like that just things I have learned on my own, so this was quite the challenge. This was my first attempt and I just stared and measured my old one and figured it out best I could. It looks pretty decent for a first attempt but having done it once if I ever have to do it again there are definitely some changes I would make. Great for a zombie though! I used an ivory coloured fabric because it looked more weathered and old then the nice shiny white. the main body of the cummberbund was actually quite easy to make. I then took a look at the pockets and almost quit on the spot but, having far too much time left in the day to go to bed I started making my own pattern for then based on the other pockets I have. They turned out better then I thought they would and I am quite pleased so after about four hours Voila! a Cummberbund! Again for a first attempt I am very pleased at how it turned out. I have sewn the pockets onto the main body as I hate how mine use velcro. here is is compared to my other one next step weathering it... any tips for that?
  23. That's my thought as well so because of this I'm going to use my Rubies for the zombie. Ill keep posting my progress on the build.
  24. Just arrived today, the SC armor seconds. its a complete set including the helmet but without the strapping. Should make fo an interesting build. Okay here is the weathering and addition of blaster holes into the chest plate. I'm not too sure if I like the green in the weathering so I may wash that off and start over, and I need to make the grooves a bit darker with weathering if I keep it. I am also not sure if I want to do just a clean trooper who has recently been killed. If I do it this way then I don't have to worry about making cummberbund and boots that match. I have also decided to use the rubies bucket that I have instead of the SC one that I have been working on as the SC one is a lot more comfortable. Anyways let me know what you think The weathering is just water soluble acrylic craftsmart paint from Michael's cost $0.69 a bottle. I used spanish olive, black, and wine to add a small amount of blood colour to the holes. everything on there can be easily removed with the exception of the weathering on the forearms, I had a coat of white spray paint on them previously and the weathering wont come off of those. For the blaster holes/marks I used white glue and toilet paper and painted it black.
