Means God is still GOD and you are just you...human. I think the "forget the trash gene" is something man is born with and men still haven't mastered the "less waste" factor just yet. Yeah I am pretty much chained to my machine from 9 am to after 9pm.

OMG.... I guess that means I need to get rolling on the soft underbelly of the BARC. I have been scouting materials and looking at reference pictures a lot, but have been really busy taking care of my customers. I will be getting on some mock ups this weekend after I get my list pared down to half. You are just impressing the Hell out of all of us with your RnR project. I guess that means that Officer PGHfett is good at all he does.

Is there even one BARC Trooper yet?
Ladyghost4459 replied to Imperialgrrl's topic in Kashyyyk Trooper HQ
We're on it. It is a big task and there are several of us feverently attempting this. Never can get too much of Troy's latest Avitar -
I started looking at these again yesterday and bought some material to begin mock ups of them. I figure with a really firm stabilizer and maybe even doing the liquid starch bath, we can probably get a sturdy enough set of pouches for this. I am also begining preliminaries on the midsection vest/cummerbund using an alice hook up ideal for all of the pouches. Got a lot of other scout work to finish up for customers, but will be spending a few hours a week getting this idea off the drawing board and on to some bodies.

That's the problem with armor and buckets...there are so few people out there that actually do the really hard work of building these things and doing a quality job that the demand is really high when work like you fellows come out . I am sure MC and SC and KS and so forth also get so much response for their work and some of the guys out there forget that this is for fun and though we do make a bit of money out of it we should still be given a little more respect and leeway. We share our talents with them and charge a reasonable price for making their characters a reality. We also have to step back when real world issues, ie supporting our families and selves, or maintaining good health, or even taking a little time to make our own costumes and convention or other public venue appearances a reality. I love doing the work and am glad to share my 30 years of experience with the nuevo/psuedo hobbist who does more more spending than spending hours in research and rework to get just the right look. I know not everyone can afford or has the ability to set up a vacutable or work with fiberglass, ABS or the other materials out there or even do the sculpting. I do encourage, where ever possible, that peeps should do as much of their own work as possible and be more respectful of those of us who do have the skills and put ourselves out there to do the work when we can. Those of us with good reps here for turn around time and quality really do like to maintain our high standards of quality work and can't just throw the stuff together. Hey Skygunbro....I hope that you are feeling much better and hope that you'll soon be back in the saddle having fun at it. My hat is off to you guys who do the hard armor....it ain't easy. I only wish I had the resources to do the stuff you do. For the rest...the small minority of really impatient hobbiest out there, count to 12 parsecs , repeat until the anxiety goes away and remember...even the Lucas Empire was not built in a day.

The Acrylikhan Armor Project Files

I think a picture of the shoulder bell in relation to how it fits on your shoulder would give a more accurate aproximation of its size. It may not be too narrow, it may be too long. Can't tell without seeing it over your shoulder. -
Excellant. !!!

Ross is not as impressed with the boots as I am. I can see with armor and paint applied that they will look really cool. I especially like how full the calf area is. That's one of the areas Ihave the most trouble fitting for myself. Ross has very skinny calves so he has no trouble finding boots that fit him. I, on the other hand, always have to buy something with too big of foot area to fit the calf area. Looking forward to seeing your modifications on these.

What kind of cost and delivery time?

OOoooo! Aaaahhhhh! tears of awe glisten in my eye. All I've got to say is that one of PA's finest is also an artist of great talent. If you do your day job as well as your hobbies, I must expect your beat is a safer place to be with you in service.

The NobelPrice of prop building is aching back, hands in need of a manicure, many hours of frustration and reflection, nearly going blind staring at screen captures, many start overs and ruined materials...then that Eureaka moment when everyone goes oooooh, ahhhh....
-
A note in your favor, Kray, it is a sweet looking futurist prop and it would look cool with a costume, it just wouldn't fly for your "cannon" display as a bikere scout. One thing that scouts forget is that they are recon which means light arms not the heavy guns....Stormies get that mandate.

A man of many talents. Great find. Thanks for the encouragements too.

Fine work. Is the tank going to have any sort of opening or is it going to be a solid closed piece? I'd rather like it if it could be useful not just attractive.

I am salivating in antis...a....pa...tion.

Does a seamstress proud. You look great.

Congrats!....We are very happy with you sitting in the "Big Chair" and the rest of the crew around you.

The Acrylikhan Armor Project Files
Ladyghost4459 replied to Acrylikhan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
It looks like need to drop the height of the boots a little. Did you just fold them down inside in the picture? It would be a good thing to get the height of the boots right before you install a holster. Did you want us to make that adjusment for you? -
Nice job Mike. Keep up the good work.

Starting to look at this again. It looks like there is a web style belt crossing the cummerbund area. The textured ribbing appears to be the webbing verticle. Whwn I finish with my current obligations I will do a test run on my theory of construction. I am eager to see the BARC completed before C4. By Dragoncon at the very latest. So this is an urging to keep up the good folks. Mike your sculpt and 1st run on the chest armor is phenominal.

Ladyghost4459 replied to Acrylikhan's topic in ROTJ Biker Scout Armor/Helmet
Yes the pouches could definitely use some work. The cummerbund height is alright. The cummerbund width is about 3 inches too wide. Your closure in the back should be about 2 inches from edge to topstitch. It just looks oversized when you have that much extra fabric in the back. I would trim that down a bit so that your overlap is only around 2 inches or so. The good thing is that the plastic armor does cover a lot of sins. The boots, gloves and flight suit look right on. You will make an impressive scout when you finish. -
Hey, you know me, I am up for a challenge. Ross will probably figure out the details and I will do the sewing....I've done wedding gowns and Renfaire stuff, a little military uniform shouldn't be a big deal for me.

Looks Great! Mike....Can't wait until you guys are ready to move onto the soft parts. I have been keeping myself busy with the regular scouts, but will be looking forward to jumping into the BARC project soon.
