  1. Look forward to seeing your build. If you need a blaster, I'm selling one.
  2. Yeah def a no on the flight suit. Way too much work you'd have to put into that, with removing all the pockets and all. A lot of people are going with racing suits. Or you can get with Ladysewforus. She makes custom biker suits.
  3. Post up some pics of your helmet. As far as a vest..check with ladysewforus here on the boards. She makes them.
  4. Yeah that's not from the paint, it's from the parts themselves. Easier trick, go to your local autozone and get a small tube of Bondo spot filler. Sand the areas with some high grit sand paper (400 or 600 grit) and take the paint off. Spot fill, sand smooth, and then repaint. Remember when painting though you should spray light coats to get the desired color. Don't just go heavy black all at once.
  5. Yep, what Andry said. UA Heat Gear is what I use..need to order a new one..my old one is getting beat up after 2.5 years.
  6. Typical KS pull. Their molds just keep getting worse, and they seemingly refuse to clean them up. The last few KS buckets I've built have been pulls like that, so getting a replacement is likely to just be the same. You pretty much have to work with what you have. It can be made to look good. Just take it slow.
  7. I did this for a friend of mine. Pealed the stickers, cleaned it up. Rough sanded with high grit (600 grit) paper. Primed it with some rustoleum auto primer, then painted it black. She was happy with it and since you don't need a blaster for clearance, you can leave the trigger on if you want to..but like BJ said..kill the trigger.
  8. Soft parts look good. But all together, the armor needs a lot of work. Send him over here for some recommendations.

    Vest

Ladysewforus makes vests. Check with her on pricing and time frame.
  10. He said Lancer eventually, so as of right now he doesn't need the straps on the knees. Those are a cheap, quick fix anyways. As far as right now goes, you're good for approval..you should have no problem. Some recommendations though. Slide your forearms down to wear the ends sit on top of the gauntlet of the glove. Slide your biceps down a little. You don't want the vest sleeve covering up that much. Move your pouches out a little further. We'd like to see them sitting on the edge of the last vertical stitch on the bund ribs. For Lancer..def have to add the extra straps on the knees. Get rid of the KS bolt covers for accurate covers. Do you have straps securing shoulder bells? You should have one that goes around your arm. It helps keep the bell from turning and sitting back. The chevron on the lower part of your bund will need to be redone. The arch is WAY to high on it. Boots will need to be to Lancer specs with notches and sole painted one solid color. Looks good though. Submit it.
  11. Most of us got ours at Target. They have since discontinued the Merona boot we were using and have gone to a different boot. It would still work fine, though the sole is a little softer then before.
  12. What I did with the SC was recommended by the former DL. I cut out most of the back plate, leaving a nice piece hanging there. Looked like I cut a giant "U" into the back plate. Then I just heated up that middle part I left, and bent it back up so that it rested under the tank. Punched the hole and then riveted from the inside out.
  13. Thanks Darren. We will review and get back to you.
  14. Ooooo....looking good.
  15. Welcome to BSN as well.
  16. What Chef said. But a recast of an old Kenner blaster? Should have saved some money and bought a nice one instead. The Kenner size is not Lancer approved, if that is ever your goal.
  17. MC doesn't make a helmet. MC sources a helmet made by MLC.
  18. Gloves..good luck. SA is searching for another vendor to make gloves, so it may be awhile. And honestly, it's all a matter of body size. They're going to both put together relatively the same. The tank mounts are diff, they include slightly diff ways of building the belt, etc..but in the end they pretty much go together the same way. MC looks better on shorter troopers..I'd say 5'10" and shorter. SC for taller then that. Both are quality. MC is a bit more accurate, but SC has reworked a lot of his bucks so they look better. You can't go wrong with either. MC has a longer wait time and is a bit more money, but worth the wait.
  19. And that will def be something to worry about in the future I think. Disney might end up causing a lot of trouble. We did the LegoLand opening for the SW part back in Nov here because our appearance was set in stone before Disney bought LFL. LegoLand wanted us for May 4th-5th just now and were turned down. Gee, I wonder why? If Disney is already showing a little muscle now, it's only a matter of time. But that another discussion for another time lol.
  20. Would love to see a picture, like Marcel said. If we can see a test fit, we can comment better. You're doing a really good job so far and would hate to see it go to waste. Post some pics..maybe there's a solution. Oh, and KS fits the larger heads for helmets.
  21. KS is going to be the biggest out of them all I think. I have one, and I love it. The MLC and SC are smaller. I think the SC is based off of a DP, so the sizes will prolly be similar I think. If Scott sees this he can chime in and confirm or give a better analysis.
  22. Are there preferred vendors? Absolutely. Would I recommend one over the other? Absolutely! But I'm going to do it based off of a number of factors. Budget, time frame, body type, level of skill, etc. We don't benefit from recommending anyone. Our only benefit is seeing some great looking scouts come out of the process. We're not here to steer you wrong, or have some profit from our recommendations.
  23. Depends on you. Our GML in the Florida Garrison, Zach, is very proactive in getting approvals done in a timely manner. He'll post your pictures for our GML Committee to review (which I'm a part of) and if you're good to go, then it shouldn't take more then a week. Regardless, wear it to MegaCon. I'll be there, Zach will be there, and we can give you a good once over. Even if you don't have your numbers yet, you can still hang out with everyone.
  24. Thought about doing this, but I never did. Would love to get a bunch of TBs who I know to do sound files, then edit them all together for some custom chatter.
