hello folks

I've asked You here and there about different stuff, making disorder so i,ve decided to start my topic,

Started not so long and progress going rather slow but here is some pics what i got:

1st layer of "chrome" on some parts

http://img12.imagesh...2/5646/bvcy.jpg

started work on helmet

http://img17.imagesh...7/6599/hgp5.jpg

http://img842.images...2/4505/dq8q.jpg

got some troubles with that "nose" is badly shifted comparing to visor line

http://img853.images...3/8803/hvrj.jpg

but i try fix that by filing and bondoing place where snout piece goes hope it will be enough,

got my lil helper here so things WILL be ok ;)

http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/8361/u9ef.jpg

Started shins also

http://img42.imagesh...2/8030/6trb.jpg

Your pics look fine.

You seem to be off to a good start.

I wouldn't worry too much about the snout. That's just how it ended up, when being made. I have two like that.

It didn't really bother me. You shouldn't notice it when you get it painted and have camo on it.

Can't really see a good close up picture of the "camogrom" pattern.

It looks like the multicam, but seems to have other things on it. Do you have a picture that has a better detail?

It might not be a problem, but I'm just curious to see what the pattern looks like, up close.

Keep up the great work and keep posting those progress pictures. B)

hello

Thx folks ,im probably too worried about details hehe ,but i think all of us got something like that at first build:)

Here are pics of camogrom, hope pattern will be better visible:

http://img841.images...1/5084/kolz.jpg

http://img132.images...2/8872/ezmb.jpg

seems bit lighter than multicam and have bit more dense pattern i think, wonder if it would work for cumber pouches or COD,bit worried about that dark brown patterns on that camo they no suit very good.

Ill try post some progress pics after weekend, thru week job takes too much time to work seriously ;)

One more lil question ,guys u glue that straps, velcros and naps on painted HIPS,or before primering?

I presume some elements like snout on helmet and greebles on bicep goes on after painting but i wonder about all that connecting stuff.

Yeah, just about all of the armor pieces should be painted and have camo on them before the greeblies are attached.

The snaps and Velcro underneath the armor pieces can be done at any time.

It's easier to have them on, such as the chest and back armor, to test for sizing, before you cut anything down.

You want to have your straps attached to make sure the armor sits right on you. Then I usually spray the backside of the armor black.

It's not required, but I like to have the dark look, so no white armor is showing from the back.

The "camogrom' pattern looks very much like regular multi-cam. I think it would be okay for the pouches.

Since multi-cam is accepted, I don't see a problem.

Heatshock, what do you think?

Just don't forget to give them some good "weathering" with black and a little white spray paint. "Misting."

For the cod piece, cover it in monk's cloth. It's a soft material. And then paint it the base color of the armor, and give it some of the camo patterns. The cod usually matches the armor camo.

Don't rush it. Take your time.

You are on your way with a great costume.

We need more Kashyyyk Troopers!

Cheers! B)

okeyday Thx Grumpy it allows me to plan my job further more clearly :)

I planned paint my armour back sides with same chrome but can do black as well :)

I will consult "camogrom" use with my GML yet and i'll wait what Heatshock say.

Hehe hope i'll have enuf patience to finish&join, will be 1st Kashyyk here in Poland from what i know ;)

Thx vm for advices,i try do some job thru weekend and post progress.

I was just going to say everything Grumpy just did so I guess Ill just tell you to keep up the good work.

Oh wait... EDIT:

Yes you can fit the snout, I fixed mine with a heat gun because I couldn't take looking at the nose piece being off center like that, but MAtt is right, once you paint everything and have the camo pattern on there you will hardly notice it (but it still made me feel better to fit it)

I did the same thing with the visor on the left side (it sticks out a little more than the helmet, easy fix again with heat gun)

just take your time and don't try to turn the resin into a puddle ;) LoL that would take a while though!

yeh visor need be a bit shifted so u get same space between visor edges and "cheeks" of helmet, from what i saw You shifted and bondoed that on right side ,i proly do the same :) yep heatgun would be even better option than filing/bondoing snout that true :) Also can file snout plate itself a bit i'll try what will work best thx guys :)

Hey guys got few quick questions:

greeblies on gauntlets glue or sew em,ive thought about glueing em and glueing other layer of skin under them,to protect edges from dragging em by sleewe when wearing gloves, about sewing im bit afraid if thread will not cut thru rubber.

Another about that resin greeble plate on top of tank,it should be flat with top of tank itself so mine stick up kinda 1 mm,and i dunno if i should bondo on that edges difference or left it as it is.

(sorry for poor english)

your english is fine.

as for the gloves Ill leave all that to Matt to nswer (Grumpy) he is the resident expert on those ;)

The top tank greeb also stuck up a lil bit on mine and i did bondo it flush, I think it helps the look of it if you ger it flush.

For the gloves, I recommend that the greebs be sewn into the gauntlets.

However, it does depend on the greeblie itself. Who did you get the greeblie from?

If it's real thick and hard, yet flexible, they can be sewn in, but it would require a pretty good sewing machine and possibly a few sewing machine needles.

I've gone through a few needles during the glove-making process.

But, I figured out how to get them on. (After quite a few pairs.)

Or you can hand sew them. (That's how I did them on my first few pairs. Plus some poking of my fingers. Use a thimble on this process.)

Then I discovered that if I push my sewing machine hard enough, I can machine sew them on. (Plus breaking a few needles.) ;)

Not too fond of gluing with fabric. It could work. But for me, I need to know that the greeblie won't pop off while I am wearing it.

Just my opinion.

Thx Grumpy,i've got em from BC,rubber seems ok for sewing just need do carefull not pull threads to hard,

got some experience with leather sewing from my years in medieval reenacting so i should be ok ;)

And wohoo got my blaster set finally today so ....more work to do ;)

Ive decided so i try a bit different coming to cumberbund i,ve got some brezent fabric from err dunno proper word:P

military field bed or so ;)its kinda light green/grey,i need find lighter straps for that yet,its rather firm cloth,

so cumberbund should looks like reinforced corset ,well i will see what will come from that;)

bit afraid if such colours will be accepted but in worse case ill paint that.

got also some cloth wchich should be good for cumberbundf pouches and COD,ive decided to no use camogrom just paint camo pattern, its hard to buy multicam or camogrom fabrics here, ive bought that poncho with camogrom pattern wchich ive posted screen about, though its useless for pouches material is very thin and its almost 100%polyester.

Rather that go through the aggrivation of Bondo, another option is to adhere a 1mm shim on the unerside of the tank, so when you push the greeb through it will now be flush. Thin Lexan sheet should work for you

i glued it already ;P oh well used tons of bondo on helmet bit more on tank shouldnt do difference ;) thx vm :)

And hmm got sumfin similiar to Allan trouble with toe armour,i think i will need to use similiar method and glue a piece of plastic+bondo to make edge of toe go up a bit,so for now it sits too high on boot, and if i cut edge deeper so it go down it will no cower down edge of shin armour .http://imageshack.us/a/img29/8462/34c9.jpg especially so i need move toe about 10mm back yet its too long.Im consulting that yet with our clone specialist here but proly will need be fixed.

and one more,COD just hang from belt/cumberbund or its fasted in any way to riding patch downside?ive got HIPS COD in my set if its matter .

some things gone forward

I've cut a bit toe armour so it sit on boot now,all toe armour is bit too wide for that boot so there is some loose between boot and armour on sides

http://imageshack.us/a/img4/9752/4xs3.jpg

http://imageshack.us/a/img194/4295/nkf8.jpg

i've tried marsh grass paint on one of knees here is how it came out

http://imageshack.us/a/img534/1652/drga.jpg

and helmet a bit improved after primer here

As long as the shin stays where it is as you walk, and doesn't rub on the toe armor, it should be fine.

Plus, I could never get the toe armor to stay completely down on the sides.

I glued some foam pieces to the underside of the toe armor and then it was glued to the top of the boot.

After that dried, I took a brush and painted the foam the same color as the boot. It wasn't a thick piece of foam, but it worked.

That would give it a "floating" look. Plus you can push down on the toe armor and foam as it's being glued, to get it closer to the top of the boot.

But, make sure that there is plenty of room at the point where the shin will go underneath the toe armor, on the top of the boot. That has to flow well, as you walk.

Helmet looks real good on the sides.

And the color on the knee looks good.

You are moving along very well! B)

Here's what I did with the cod for my son's Kashyyyk...

IMG_4293.jpg

It's hips, and covered with monk's cloth. Painted it the base color tan and then added camo paint.

At the top, I put two snaps.

On the regular pants, I wear a belt. On the belt I have two pieces of nylon strap material.

I made two separate loops that have the other parts of the snap on it.

I made them separate, so they can float on the pants belt and make it easier to attach the cod.

Then put the cummerbund with rubber belt over the top cod area with the snaps, and you're done.

I did not connect it to the riding patch at all.

Does that help any?

That helps alot ,Thx vm Grumpy :)I wondered about mounting toe plate on velcro as i saw somewhere but maybe it would be better idea to glue that to boot itself, hmm still i need cut some yet so for now it still stick to shin and will be pushed forward while walking.

Thx that was alot of sanding and bondo on helmet hehe, there is still few little scraps but in hard accesable parts like underneath visor or between visor edges and "ears",though i decided to not try sand em further so i make mirror in one place and scraps others places :) too thin areas there :)Glad so You think base colour is ok it will open me front to painting other parts wchich ar ealready chrome coated and have most straps snaps and such .still neeed find good brown and green. Thanks for tip with COD good idea to put it on pants belt :)got slight troubles with 2nd shin so was bit hard to flush edges even with heatgun, but finally glued it together and for better bon ive put on bondo reinforced with fiber.
