Huntman Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 love the more narrow look of these almost makes me want to start one of these costumes
redkraytdragon Posted August 28, 2012 Author Posted August 28, 2012 Thanks Huntman Hope to have all the armor parts for this one done by the end of next year at the latest and then start work on the helmet after that!
redkraytdragon Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 OK guys, I just about got this backpack knocked out. I'll be making these available in a day or two after I find out if my 'caster' has been able to pump out some pouches for me (I've only got like 2 on hand at the moment). Keep in mind, in the pics below of the kit is just a dry mock up for sale thread purposes only so the placement is not ideal, but you get the idea. Hope you all like it! That's pretty much it for now. I still need to assemble one of these for a vid tutorial, but honestly I don't know when that'll be. I need a break...totally burned out right now :/
redkraytdragon Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 Slowly makin progress. Finally finished up the left shoulder bell. Here's a full frontal shot of what I have so far More to come soon...
redkraytdragon Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 Working on the mantle...not too much longer before it's ready...
redkraytdragon Posted December 13, 2012 Author Posted December 13, 2012 More progress pics on the epaulets: (special thanks to Gatzski for inspiration on the design)
redkraytdragon Posted December 13, 2012 Author Posted December 13, 2012 Mocked up a quick comparison photo just to see what it looks like. Pretty happy with it
redkraytdragon Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Got some more progress to report. I finally finished up the boot armor and got them to the point where I feel happy enough with them to call them good. I figure I've spent at least around 10-12 hours on them when it was all said and done. There were a lot of warping shapes and off-mirror issues that had to be dealt with not to mention flat spots that had to be smoothed out. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you all think! And of course the obligatory family photo...haven't done one of these in quite a while lol That's it for now. Gonna take a break for a bit and start up next on the dreaded helmet O.o
redkraytdragon Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 So I decided to add some dimension to the edges and round a few corners for accuracy. I also cleaned up the edges on these for a better look. Much happier with them now
Southscout Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Hi Will, amazing work! The GM is one of the costumes I'm considering as my next build. Just out of curiousity, how much is a full set? Can't wait to see your helmet build
redkraytdragon Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Thanks very much Patrik PM sent bro
Boba Leo Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Once again Will congratulations for your progress, Regards from Argentina!!!!!!!! Leo
redkraytdragon Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 Thanks very much Leo! I hope to raise the bar even more with some high expectations I've set for myself for the next few pieces to this costume when it's all said and done. Thanks again all for looking and stay tuned
redkraytdragon Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Construction on the helmet begins! More to come, stay tuned
redkraytdragon Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Not too much more to report. Making some headway on the dome and skirt with the foam. Had to make some circular templates for the skirt base as well as some 'step up' templates for each section as I go closer to the top Next I cut these up on the band saw to get a closer profile to work with....a bit tedious and time consuming, but it'll save me a ton of time down the road And working my way up to the dome Rinse and repeat for the other side...only mirrored of course A quick top view to check my progress...this was actually the SECOND time I had to do this grrrr due to the fact that I didn't account for the proper angles going up and had used the same circular template as I did for the base of the skirt for the rest of the pieces....had to start over from the ground up but got it right as I figured out what I did wrong. Lesson learned Then I moved on to the front brow on the right side Rinse and repeat mirror-like That's it for now, stay tuned folks...LOTS more left to do on this
redkraytdragon Posted June 18, 2013 Author Posted June 18, 2013 Gearing up for a local con, so I decided to get a display setup ready for the 501st table. This was a LOT more work than I originally anticipated (it doesn't help that I did it mostly all in 2 days either), but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out...plus I'll have this for future cons and events so it was worth the trouble.. A nice break from the helmet sculpt too Here's some pics
Death Recon Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Looks great, I'm sure people will appreciate the display at the con
redkraytdragon Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Thanks Allan! Here's another quick shot...just cause. I think I placed the epaulets a bit too close together but...m'eh, you get the idea
Death Recon Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Just slide them out a touch then. They look great though
redkraytdragon Posted July 2, 2013 Author Posted July 2, 2013 Thanks Allan! More progress on the helmet: That's it for now...
redkraytdragon Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 A few more progress pics. Added the neck ring and correctly flared out the skirt, makes a HUGE difference in the overall look. That's it for now kiddies....stay tuned
redkraytdragon Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 Here's some more progress pics for you all, enjoy! At this point, I had spoken to Barry (banzai88) and he pointed out that the cheeks needed to be corrected. I knew SOMETHING was up with it but couldn't quite put my finger on it. Onto the Rondo! Then sand, sand, sand, sand, sand, sand, sand....and more sand, sand, sand, sand, sand O.o That's it for now kiddies, stay tuned...
