chimei
hi.. as i near the completion of the costume (still working on the helmet)...i'm wondering how to transport all the armor. what is a good method? i'm in NYC and would need to carry this around on the subway...up and down stairs, etc. At home, i have it all in a big plastic tub...but without a car, that isn't practical for getting to and from troops. so what are the rolling options? anyone know the size of a suitcasethat is "perfect"? thanks
Griffin-X
I use a tote bin from Lowes hardware store. It has wheels on one side so you can load up and go. I have a huge one for my TX costume and a smaller tote for this one. Also waterproof and you can almost sit on it.
Scarcasm
I've trialled using my Hockey Goalie Bag & it works just fine.
Jello
I use a Contico storage locker for my scout. It fits everything but the bucket, which goes in a motorcycle helmet bag. Pop on over to Walmart and pick one up! Oh, and they meet TSA size requirements for airline travel, so that's an added bonus!
4505Marcel
The scout armour uses up far less room than say a TK, so any large wheeled suitcase will do the job. I tend to stick to the hard cases to avoid damage ect, but I have in the past just used a holdall (sports bag) when I have had anouther costume in the case just so I can put it on my back. chimei
i like the idea of a soft and light hockey bag. but the hard totes add some security...oh, boy...choices, choices.
Darth Voorhees
I use a Contico storage locker for my scout. It fits everything but the bucket, which goes in a motorcycle helmet bag. Pop on over to Walmart and pick one up! Oh, and they meet TSA size requirements for airline travel, so that's an added bonus! This is what i use for all of my costumes. I fit my entire TK... bucket and all in one. As well as my sandy (less the BFG and backpack) and my entire scout, including the helmet. I did however just purchase a large rolling suitcase bag for my honeymoon..and out of curiosity, checked to see if my TK fits in it...and it does..helmet, blaster and all. Im 100% positive the scout the will fit with the helmet as well. The hendle makes it easier to roll around. Even though the contico tote has wheels, i always bungee it to a rolling cart as its eaiser to manuver around NYC/subways etc.
loosetoon
Another great option if you can't get a new storage tub for whatever reason is a Magna Cart folding hand truck from Home Depot and some bungees. Perfect for a costume in a regular storage tub. Sometimes I even use one of these with my contico locker to make it even easier to move. Navajo Bro
I use the Sterilite brand hard tote, it's got wheels and a handle. I keep my TB in it and can carry it easily like a suitcase: You can only find them at Walmarts, they come in blue, black or gray. I actually have pretty much all my costumes in one this size, I can fit TB, Shadow Scout, Custom Mando, Tie Fighter, Jedi, Armored Jedi, and all three of my sons in one (and all include helmet inside as well)
Dart
I use something similar to this:http://www.reebokhockey.com/gear/products/player/accessories/product/5k-backpack/ only it has a few more pockets on it, kinda like this:http://www.reebokhockey.com/gear/products/player/accessories/product/10k-wheeled-backpack/. That it can roll and can be carried on my back has come in very handy and I've taken this on the subway many times.
Sandeman
I use a Craftsman sit/stand wheeled tool box (around $60 at Sears or K-Mart). My entire kit fits perfectly, sans helmet. Plus, it has the added advantage of providing me with a place to sit while booting up. The box is light weight and very strong, so carrying it up and down stairs or sitting on it isn't a problem.
