Yeah I was trying to dial more the soft parts. I figured since I was already there I might as well slap the armor on ;)

Nice work!  I think Pete has you covered.  Once you get your shoulder bells attached it’ll be easier to get your bicep and forearm armor properly placed.  Eventually you might want to consider placing some Velcro on the undersuit to help secure the bicep and forearms in place and keep them from slipping down or rotating out of place.  The biceps should be centered with your shoulder bells and the forearms should be centered on the V pattern of your gloves.  If you need to use Velcro on the knee armor, just place it on the bottom portion below the knee.  That way you’ll be able to kneel down for photos with the little fans with ease.

Can’t make out the edges of your riding patches due to the lighting.  Just keep an eye on those corners.  If they’ll protruding, just round them as Chopper suggested above.  It’s an easy fix if needed.

Keep up the great work!

Down the line, when you’ve got everything together. Give this thread a read.  It’ll give you some great ideas on how to keep everything secure while trooping.

Ok, boots , I’ve read @cheesewhoopy boot tutorial and maybe I’m reading something wrong but here’s my question. Measure around calf+2.75 would be ~20 but when I figure out the distance between the hole 2” each side of center (10”) and the. Distance from the farthest edge->edge is 10” so it’ll be 5” from the edge of the hole right?

Kevin, I'm really sorry but I'm having a hard time understanding what you're trying to check? Can you please clarify?

What is supposed to be 5" from the edge of the hole?

You're already using paper to make your pattern, so you can always get your pattern close, suit up, put your boot on, wrap the paper around the boot and make small sizing and fitting tweaks from there. That's what I did when I built my boots.

I'd have to second what Chopper is saying. Put on your flight suit and knees then boots and take the pattern to fine tune your measurements. You're going to want some room between the top of the boots and your knees. Check out the CRL model for spacing.

Ok mark2 in the books laid out the pattern on parchment paper, prepped it, transferred to vinyl, I just need input, as in the below photos it looked like the rear part was kinda wide , I made the one side 1” bigger to account to Velcro which isn’t installed yet, which may be part of the excess in the rear but besides that it looked about ready.

Looking good! A little tip for sewing velcro onto the vinyl, just put a piece of backing paper between the vinyl and the presser foot of the sewing machine. Just in case you didn’t know it already

Nice work, Kevin.

Your overlap in the back looks like it's more than it needs to be? Hard to tell without a straight on photo of the back.

It should be about centered in the back and the overlap should be 1", which corresponds to the velcro strip.

I just finished dinner… it just helps to transport the vinyl better.

Yeah I think I overshot about 1/2” I was just being overly safe when I made my pattern ;) I’d rather have feedback here before doing anything crazy. Also I didn’t know if I needed to fold over that side some.

Ok, more cutting, I think I’m there though! Velcro and blousing band will be here tomorrow, so now to transfer the pattern to the right side vinyl and we’re good to go!

Next question after flipping the pattern for the Right (holstered) boot:

Should I just do the basic flip the top by an inch and sew it shut while i wait for the velcro/blousing strap to get here, or just wait and get it all banged out when the other bits show up?

Ok, boot tubes are sewn, just need glued, down. Blousing band is sewn in to the right boot. The holster can be installed whenever right? Onto the holster, I have questions… SC holster has the cut in the side as shown below. The front piece that drops in can’t really be trimmed to fit into the slot unless I do some major cutting. Would it be better to just line up at the blue line I have marked and maybe rivet it into place, same with the front. Would the Front be reversed as there’s not alot of clearance to fit the tool etc up front?

-> reason?VfcQV4j.jpg-> how would this be cut?? bDKHw7v.jpg

Hi Kevin. That part of the holster is meant to be a compression fit so that's why the slot in the holster. The trim line should you desire to cut it would be about here:

You can glue it in using E6000 and some holsters have two rivets attaching the front part of the holster. If you do rivet it then make sure to use backing washers and pre-drill the holes to prevent cracking. @Chopper @Aradun what are your thoughts?

Hey Pete, yeah usually folks either trim that lip at bit and fit it into the slot, or they trim the edge off entirely and glue it in place. Either works and the exterior end result is the same.

Same with affixing the front end. I believe SC uses rivets, but others use a permanent bond cement, like the Oatey ABS cement, to glue it in place.

Ok, holster is trimmed and riveted, now to suit up and make sure everything fits, that’ll have to wait till after the garrison party though ;) xnn7gzb.jpg

Ok, post garrison shenanigan suit up. Waiting on the good stuff to get here to cement my boots. So here’s the latest with the belt dialed in, and the cod pattern hanging, it hits at the Apex of the crotch so I’m figuring another inch should do fine yeah? Post suit up, wondered how much room I had from boot top to knee armor, mocked it up over my jeans, 1” between knee and boot top.

Ok, so the witching hour came, codpiece is finished. So I had to make sure we had no CCT! So full suit up minus pouches (that’s next), balaclava (I didn’t pull it from my TIE bag), and the HH-66 is on order for my boots!

Edit: the uh white line on the back of my vest is already fixed (Go black sharpie!)

Ok last stretch with the pouches. Here’s my question (it’ll prolly sound dumb) so the instructions say to sew two back to back and then flip inside out… you can’t flip it inside out of all 4 edges are sewn though right… sewing isn’t my forte I’d rather deal in solidworks 😕 of that’s the point topside seams would be easiest to hide.

Photos look good. I would say, loosen the strap on your cod just a smidge. You don’t have the dreaded crunchies, but the end is pulled under just a tad. The bottom of the cod should ideally lay flat against the undersuit.

These are just dressing suggestions to keep in mind as you dial things in a get ready for submission. Slide your biceps and forearms up maybe 1.5 - 2”. The biceps need to be rotated forward a bit. Knee armor could come up maybe 1/2”. Velcro will help lock thing in place once your ready.

As for the pouches, are you talking about the flap closure? If so, then you are correct. You seam the bottom and two sides inside out and then turn it right side in to seam the top. You’ll fold the edge of the top inside on the front and back of the tab and sew it closed. Make sure you use a screw driver or spoon handle to push out the corners of the flap before you sew it closed. If you don’t, the bottom of the flap will be rounded instead of having those sharp crisp edges.

I believe I loosened the cod a smidge when I hung it up for the night ;) I just wanted to get the “as close as I have “ view infront of you guys so I could fix anything between things getting g done, hopefully I can get the pouches done this week and the boots done this weekend, and infront of our GML prior to EoM. As always thanks for the dressing tips and the answer to my questions!

Whatever flap securing mechanism we use on the pouch is fine right? I didn’t see anything in the cell saying it has to be Velcro? These guys are really floppy, it’ll be nice when I put a form in the bottom and poke the edges out more.

How are you thinking of securing the flap, if not by velcro?
