Scout trooper Adventure

Recommended Posts

I'm going to start this adventure to be a scout trooper
My name is Juan C (Scout Juan)
this is the beginning of a process where i open one or many questions to get approved with my suit
In a special way I want to thank Dennis (AradunFF) for all the information he has given me to start this adventure of being a Scout trooper
For now, I have already ordered the boots and gloves of crowprops by Gio and I am looking for the other components and I will show  you to receive your advice to improve it.
thank you for allowing me to be in this group

Looking forward to seeing your build come together Juan! As I said, if you need any help, I’m happy to get together to assist. You’ll find plenty of expert advice from our armorers. They’re the best in the Legion, so be sure to post up any questions you may have along the way.

Hey Juan, welcome to the Pathfinders forum.  Glad to see you are on your way to building a Scout Trooper.

We have a list of approved vendors here.   These are vendors who have props that have been used in approved costumes.  The Cyber Craft is not on the list:

If you are looking for listings by other members, the Trade Forum is where you want to be:

Best of luck on your journey!  We are here to help.

Hi Juan,

You should consider a build thread seperate from this one and also post (more) photos, so me and all the other helpful members on here can help out (if that's what you are looking for). I'm looking forward to your build, can't have too many TB's!

Hey Juan!  Since you are treating this thread as a WIP, I have moved it to the appropriate section of the forum.

Good luck with your build!

Hi Juan looks like you're off to a good start. On your flight suit make sure the thigh straps go around the outside of your legs and not the inside. Please reach out if we can be of service as we're here to help you be successful.

Hi Juan, I know ChrisThePropGuy personally. His work on Clones is outstanding.

I must point out his located in Australia, making you aware of Postage.

Though I would suggest if you've brought your armour from one place you might consider buying your Helmet there as well if they offer.

Otherwise Chris is good.

thanks for the advice, my armor is from MonCalsPropShop, and they don't have the helmet ready, only the kit, would like it to be ready

Hey Juan, Studio Creations (SC) sells a complete armor and helmet package built, but as you are just looking for a finished helmet email them @ superkrates@gmail.com and see if they give you a quote for a completed helmet. They’re here in the US and have pretty quick turnaround times.

I’m not familiar with any tutorials on MonCal armor Juan, but RS Prop Masters has a whole series they did about a year ago on assembling their scout armor. They’ll be some info that won’t pertain to your armor, but it’ll give you a sense on how to assemble things for your kit. The series is available on YouTube.

Your MonCal kit is pre-trimmed if I recall, so it should be pretty straight forward, the most complicated part being the shoulder bridge and attaching the shoulder bells. That’s where the RS videos will be of help.

Of course, as I’m in your backyard, you can always hit me up directly. I’d be happy to come over and get you sorted.

I would look at this thread for a detailed build tutorial: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/17305-lancer-build-tutorial/

Note that the thread is from 2017, so be careful check any strapping or other requirements against the current CRL: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TB_Scout_trooper

Juan, you’re close brother! It looks like your chest armor can come down ever so slightly and your back armor needs to come up. You’ll likely need to tighten things up at the shoulder bridge, but don’t do anything until@Chopper chimes in with specifics. Wait for his feedback.

The back strapping on your right hip box looks a little off, as if it’s not attached in the correct spot, but it just might be a dressing issue if it got hung up when donning the belt.

There are little dressing issues that are easy fixes, like placement of the biceps, and forearm armor, but I can help you with that once you’re ready to submit for approval. I’d be happy to take the pics for you and make sure everything is just right.

Juan, yes I agree with Dennis. In addition to what he mentioned, the primary item that you should look at is your back armor positioning and your shoulder bridges. The front side of your armor looks fine.

I think you're going to need to trim your shoulder bridges so that your back armor comes up further. Before trimming anything, overlap the two bridges and secure them with tape, so that you can be sure of the proper positioning. Give us a look before cutting anything, just to be safe.

Juan, where you've positioned the chest and back armor looks much better. I've marked in green about where you want to trim the bridges to meet. Remember, it's night-impossible to put pieces back once they've been trimmed, so measure and check, then measure and check again, before cutting.
