SilverChuck
I'm starting this thread to document and track my work on the shoretrooper costume. Soft parts: Boots: orca bay Brecon Havana (received) Shirt/neck seal: Imperial boots (received) Pants: Imperial boots (received) Gloves: endor finders Belt: Imperial boots Ammo pouch: Etsy (received) Straps/helmet pads: I'm unsure on this one. Any suggestions? Hard parts: Buckles and Straps: Mr Paul (received) Armor: not 100 percent yet, once I get the quote from Imperial surplus that'll determine it. But unless it's outrageously expensive that is option I will want to go with. Helmet: I could use a suggestion here. I don't want to scimp on quality or accuracy. I was thinking the Sean fields one. I will update as I get the various pieces. Advice is always appreciated. Thanks!
KOtrooper
Hi Joshua - welcome! I bought the files but haven't printed them, but Niko's files for the helmet are very accurate. https://www.etsy.com/shop/DesertFareCosplay?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=864903122 If you want to buy a finished bucket, Mr. Paul has rolled out his own. I've used things like these for all of my buckets: https://www.amazon.com/JADEDRAGON-Universal-Tactical-Accessories-Motorcycle/dp/B074KBYYR7/ref=dp_prsubs_1?pd_rd_i=B074KBYYR7&psc=1
SilverChuck
Boots just arrived. Definitely glad I went with a 9.5 instead of a 10.5, they're almost too big. I almost feel bad to weather them. But at least I'll get to wear them around first to break them in.
Kilika
I've been wearing mine for weathering, they are really great boots and super comfortable. Honestly strongly debating buying a set for everyday use. Cheers Chris

SilverChuck
Just received my magazine pouch. I'm not super impressed though. It came pretty musty and beat up. The second pouch on the left has some initials written on them as well. Any ideas on how to restore it? Or if it's even worth it?
BikerScout007
To be fair, the ammo pouch should be pretty beaten up. The screen used are pretty well worn: Many of them come with a musty odor from being in storage. Some people put them in a ziploc bag filled with baking soda to help get rid of the order. I just left mine outdoors for a few weeks until it went away. If you have mold on yours, saddle soap may help get it off. Are you saying the oiler has initials written on it? Are they on the front or the back? If on the back, it won't matter because it's going to be hidden by the hip armor.
Aradun
@TKZombie Christina’s build thread deals with this issue. Go to her post on January 9, 2021 for details. She got a great build too so perusing the rest of it might be helpful to you. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/22065-shoretrooper-grunt-christinas-build/#comment-207020
SilverChuck
The initials are on the front of the pouches. From a distance it's hard to see, but up close they're definitely visible.

Shoe polish or some Fiebing's leather dye could probably help cover it up too. Good thing about the Shoretrooper is that there is so much weathering on the costume that a lot of errors are very easy to conceal!
SilverChuck
Alright update! Just got the shirt, neck seal, and pants in from imperial boots! Definitely good quality, though the pants feel a little long. That may change once I get the laces for the bottom section. Once I get the belt and gloves I believe I will have all the soft parts needed for the build! We are also in the process of moving so costume building will be on hold for a little while.
