Tfin's grunt Wip

So I wanted a Shoretrooper the second I saw them on the promos for Rogue 1.  In 2018 I started 3d printing one, then life happened, then covid happened, and now here I am.  I have a kit 99% printed with a ton more work to go.  I have cleared my plate and am now making finishing this my priority.  I know there are some updates to the stuff I have that I will need to do and if I miss anything please chime in.  I would rather have a correction now than after I have put up approval pics and failed.  Here are a bunch of pics of what I have so far. In the past I have talked with our local 501st garrison so they know me, and I am also in the final stages of my application to the Mercs as well.

All the parts

The backpack. This is the part I know needs the most work.  There is a hole in the top I know needs to be added and other work that I am still trying to figure out.

Biceps, this set of prints are garbage.  I am going to reprint them.

Abs, front. From what I know there are 2 additional diagonal parts that need to be printed and added on to the upper middle section.

Shins. I am up in the air about these.  They fit, ish, for now. I have seen people do mods and spit them in the front and seal the rear then use velcro under the shin plate to seal them closed allowing for some expansion room, so I might do that, or reprint them to allow for that.

The pringles can and thermal det are printed but not pictured.  The belt boxes are not printed yet. I had hand plates but they are not the correct ones so they are on the list to reprint. I also have an entire soft parts kit from Imperial boots. I am also aware of the need to remove all print lines from every surface. Here is a pic of my B1 reading a play bill to show that I really love sanding.

Looks like you're ready to dive in on the sanding! Your bicep armor still might be able to get a smooth finish, depending on how many perimeters you printed.

More recent progress.  Reprinted my back plate from Joel's files that I found in my file folder. I am going to take the old back and start a Kyber trooper kit.

Very glad I build a vented paint booth so I can paint during the winter.

It's been a while but I am slowly moving forward.

Belt boxes are all sanded and 1/2 way through the priming process.

After a long time I have finally found some time to put some paint on my kit.  All of the print lines have been removed and now it is time for some Montana Gold!

And

51680530810_f9fda38a21_z.jpg20211114_135103 by T Fin, on Flickr

And I also need some clarification. The first pic after this is my current shin. The second pic is the current CRL. And the 3rd pic is a pic of parts from I believe Paul's kits parts, I think. I can see that the upper most part of my shin is flat and the others come to a point so that will need to be fixed. The question is: right below that part mine comes is rounded, the crl looks about the same, and the Paul's parts has a pyramid like part in there instead of the rounded bit.  Which is correct? I am going for basic approval if that helps too. I asked our GML and he pointed me towards you guys. Thanks in advance!
