I had some issues with the original 3M double sided tape sticking properly to the zip tie holders, so I ended up cleaning it off and starting fresh with e-6000, I’m so thankful I did because it is so much cleaner looking and a whole lot stronger.

I also finally got around to filling the seams on my holster to make it look somewhat how the original looked. I know they didn’t use bath silicone, lol, but I have used this stuff before on similar projects and it works great. Plus it is paintable so weathering is a snap. I have to go back over with a second application but you can start to see how it will turn out.

That’s interesting Manoah. I never saw anyone do that and would not have thought of it myself.

So we got an email from RS prop master and they had a fire in their building. They said everyone is safe but all orders were  pushed back 4 weeks because of the mishap. I have a pretty long wait time fir my soft goods as well considering I re-ordered everything through two different makers so the extra wait time on the helmet will probably make it all come around the same time. It will push back me weathering my armor though because I was waiting to see how the helmet turned out to decide on how I was going to proceed on weathering, but this is just a little speed bump and it will all get done in due time.

Glad to hear everyone at RS is safe. I’m sorry about the schedule impact but they’ll make it good with their quality. I think you’re wise to wait for weathering until the lid arrives. It’s best to have the whole package so it all looks uniform.

Thanks man, yeah I want it to have a uniform look.

Well I finally got the seams on the holster looking just the way I wanted. I did 3 light layers to build up the material in the seams. I gave it a day in between to firm up before adding the next layer and it worked out great. The shade of white is slightly off so I plan to just blend it while weathering by dusting it with the air brush. Hopefully it turns out

So after a little break to finish up some projects for my kids, I finally got some time with my wife to work on the boots. If I knew then what I know now, I’m not sure if I would have got these boots cause I put a lot of work into them just to give them a better looking shape and have them not look so loose. I do love that the have authentic soles and also that they are made of leather and are reinforced though so there are a lot of pros to them as well.
I started by removing the liner, padding, leg strap and stitching from the inside. Then I had to remove the hook side Velcro and add more of a triangular shape piece of Velcro so that I can pull it tight in the heel so it’s not loose.

I admire your tenacity Manoah. That’s quite an undertaking, but I think you’ll be really pleased with the end results. They’re looking good!

Thanks brother, I appreciate the kind words. It actually turned out to be a fun project. I knew I had to take it slowly or else I would have stressed out but it was not too bad. I did some more work on it yesterday and will update with pics here in a min.

So after the mods on the sleeve part of the boot, it ended up being more cleaned up and tight but CP put some sort of hard liner in the sleeve to give it rigidity I am assuming, maybe to help support the holster, I’m not sure. It made it have a weird imprint on the side when the boot is not being worn. You don’t see it as much when they are on though and I think the liner is a generic size to fill out the area on an average sized pair but since Am a bit taller with longer legs, the extra 1.5 inches shows more.
That same liner was also making the sleeve part hard so there wasn’t any play or slack in it. It’s more of a personal preference, but I don’t like the boots looking like two tubes on my legs. Makes them look like rain boots, lol.

I didn’t end up using this set up because the sleeve of the CP boot is so rigid, but I used it on my old boots for my first biker scout and it worked amazing for holding up the weight of the blaster in the holster. It’s just simply an aluminum flat bar, bent to go under the foot and acts as a splint to support the weight on the sleeve. Added a bit of Velcro to the sleeve and flat bar and it’s works like a charm. Like I said, it’s not needed in the CP boots though. It’s always nice to have though cause they might start to droop after some wear and tear.

It’s an exciting day today, my flak vest and flight suit from chef’s creations came in and I’m pretty pumped. I feel like they fit like a glove and are super comfy.
Does anyone see any red flags with them. Hopefully I will get suited up with armor some time this week and post some pics so you can get a better look at the lay out.

I don't see anything offhand. The bottom of the flak vest seems longer than most, but as long as it's fully covered by your bund, then that's a non=issue.

I always really liked Chef’s flak vest design. Great choice!

Looking forward to seeing ya in your armor all suited up! It’s coming together brother!

Awesome, ok cool. I will keep an eye on that once the cummerbund comes in.

Thanks brother, I really appreciate it. It’s kind of a busy week but I will get some pics on here in armor by the end of the week. No helmet or cummerbund yet but at least I can get my layout of everything down out side of those items.

So I got the holster put on the boot and it’s surprising stiff, it holds up pretty well all by itself. I have and old Darth Vorhees blaster in it so there is a bit of weight to it.
I also cut 3/4 of an inch of plastic off the bottom portion of the holster so that it will hopefully have a closer shape to the originals. Next I glue down the bone area :)

Well I got the boots all put back together and the bone is glued down. I forget who suggested the Barge cement but thank you, it is amazing stuff. It’s probably going to be all I use on soft goods from now on.
I love the new look of the boots, they fit and look more tight.

So I did a rough suit up with what I have and this was the best I could make it look, please let me know everything I can improve. My wife tucked the sleeves of the flak vest about one inch, we did our best to make the legs look less baggy. I realized with all the armor on the suit makes it look overall baggy so we bunched it in the back a lot, it needs to be taken in so my wife is going to help me out with that. The vest also needs to be taken up in the abdomen area so that it will be completely covered by the cummerbund. The shoulder armor is also just resting on the vest and does not have anything holding it down besides the zip ties. You can see from the close up shot from the back that there is a lot of bunching.
-Our notes so far-
-Hem the vest sleeves by one inch to look as they do in the picture (sleeves are already tucked 1” in the pictures)
-Add elastic stirrups to the pant legs to hold them tight.
-Take the Suit in 1” at a time until we achieve the look of the CRL model.
-Add strapping to shoulder bells
-Hem the flak vest in the abdomen area so that it is high enough to be covered by the cummerbund.

Hey, I don't really see a lot that you haven't already identified --

Your shoulder bells are shifting back a bit, likely b/c your chest and back armor are shifted back as well.

I can't make out your butt flap very well in the overall back photo. From the half photo, it looks a little wide/long, but hold off on any corrections for now.

There's something under your mandarin collar -- is that a brass button, or the zipper peeking out?

Nice work, overall.
