CoryBoom
So one year of I guess heavy trooping (40 official troops and 10 fun days or conventions use for personal fun) and my IB boots with the older CRL requirement overhang on the heel are both failing and the heels are ground down and compacted. I contacted IB and got an un-satisfactory response."Hi Cory , that is the unfortunate byproduct of making boot screen accurate. The way the leather "hangs" at the heel instead of being pulled under the boot may affect the glue and strength of the boot. As I always said, costume are made for movies and will be seen for a few minutes , details are not made to be "long lasting" but more for as visual effects." Sorry Vince. If the boot were made to be screen accurate it would come with work boot soles to last longer and cut out on them to begin with... Anyways I am venting on points that don't matter... The main point of the post is warning with this kinds of boots the paper like cloth lining wall will fail and rip if you do a lot of kneeling and moving around like I do with kids on troops. IB updated their boots to close the back now and stitched it up since the CRL does not call for it any more (still not cut out detail). I know since I bough a pair to replace these... I may have a few ideas to restore them since boot glue is not lasting. Kind Regards.
Blackwatch
considering the cost and wait time 40 uses isn't acceptable.
