clockworksoldier Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Hello all!So I have slowly but surely been trimming and sewing and working on my WTF kit. I am a squirrel chasing SOB so I jump back and forth from piece to piece. But, I’m ready to start posting. This is my first ever attempt at a cummerbund. I am I am wearing the belt without any drop boxes or strapping due to the fact that I cannot find any inch and a half white cotton wedding or inch and a half parachute buckles. The Cummerbund closes right over left and has 5, 1 inch ribs per the CRL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

M.J Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Greg love your build thread, I've just posted in your other posting. there is no stitch line on the bottom of the bun. You can sew both sides together and turn it inside out as you would like a pillow or fold over. We tend to attach the cod piece around the back, I use velcro at the top doing so before I attach both parts together so you cannot see the seams. Its an old photo, I've since made it a little neater, though you should get the drift 2
clockworksoldier Posted September 16, 2019 Author Posted September 16, 2019 Ok, so I hit the ole drawing board and Sewing machine again. This is a completely different cummerbund. I found some heavier cotton material and better white bunting for the inside. I deducted about an 1-1/2” - 2” off the top and I used hem tape on the inside where it will not be seen, To keep the bunting in place. Now it rests comfortably right above the belt and leaves me enough room behind the chest armor for Velcro, to secure the cod piece and pouches. Now I just have to do the really hard part and put the ribs in… LOLPlease don’t mind the Wookiee reaching out from my suit. I just didn’t feel like putting the collar all the way upSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
M.J Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 lol I had to read that twise about the wookie! Looking much better your going to be soo experienced with cummberbuns when you're finished! I found drawing lines from the back in pencil was easy, I would suggest, sew then measure, as when you sew the measurements can change.
clockworksoldier Posted September 17, 2019 Author Posted September 17, 2019 I’ve been using a mechanical pencil that comes off very easily and I’m getting very good at these cummerbunds! It took me about an hour and a half on this one just because I’m OCD with measurements Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
greenyone Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 I drew mine on with a fabric marker. Makes a crisper line than chalk and the ink is a light blue that just washes away with a damp cloth when the sewing is complete. As far as the spacing goes, you may want to make the lines slightly more spaced apart than the specified 1 inch. Reason being, the padding/batting adds depth that can make the lines look too close after it's all sewn up. Another TB on here suggested in one of the threads here on the forum so I tested that concept with some scrap material and it turned out to be true after sewing and re-measuring. After doing the test I found with my fabric and batting I had to add 1/16th of an inch between the lines to get it to look like 1 inch ribs after it was all sewn up. 1
clockworksoldier Posted September 18, 2019 Author Posted September 18, 2019 5, 1” ribs2” Right over left, Velcro closureNo visible stitching on the bottom of the bund. Upper stitching will be hidden by chest armorThere is plenty Of room on the upper part of the cummerbund to attach the pouches and cod piece, as suggested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Aliaz Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Looks good! You are good to go for basic approval IMO. The boots came out great! A few tips on fitting: - Move your belt up abit so that is no gap between it and the bottom of the bund. - Rotate your bicep armor forwards so that it is faceing to the side, now its rotated a bit to the back. - Forearm armor goes over the glove, not inside it. This will also help with your forearm and bicep armor overlapping. - Move your cod a bit forward so that its laying flat on the front of your body, not going between your legs. This will help to avoid the dreaded camel toe look. - Suit looks abit baggy around the thighs, remember to pull it down into your boots or fit stirrups at the bottom of the flight suit legs. All a matter of fitting, you got this!
clockworksoldier Posted October 16, 2019 Author Posted October 16, 2019 Awesome. Thank you for the pointers. I wore it out to a combat vet event as a trial run to see what I needed to tweak, tuck, trim and taper. I still need to properly mount and attach the shoulder bells as well as add a bit more 1/2” elastic length to the strapping. My cummerbund is an easy fix because the 2” strap is adjustable in the back of the cummerbund. And my belt..... Sheesh!! Started doing keto so I’ve lost 13lbs in about 1-1/2 weeks!!! So I need to take that in. I still need to properly attach my back tank and boot holster, both of which are giving me a P.I.T.A!! Also I need my suede pieces sewn in when I fit my flight suit. I figure I’m about a month out on submitting for approval and then lancer shortly there after. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
