Patches on pants? Making a 2 piece under suit.

Recommended Posts

So I’ve been working on a 2 piece under suit as an alternative to switch with my full flight suit.

Took an nice thick vintage shirt to make the top adding the mandarin collar and a detachable butt flap.

I just finished sewing the patches to the pants and I’m pretty happy with how they came out.

Good work Jason. Those look great.

Thanks. I wanted a tad cleaner tighter look than my current flight suit and this was my first attempt.

Opened the inseam, and cut the patches carefully pinning them on multiple times to check fit and where my knee armor would sit.

This is a back up to current and a test to make a full 2 piece lancer certified undersuit. Oh boy!

Jason looking good, opening the inseam or unpicking as we call it, thats a bit of work well done. I  did the lazy way and just sewed it around.

The riding patches I hate doing,  I've done quite a few for troopers around here.

Following!  Did you find a pair of pants with no back pockets?  Every avenue I've gone down with this idea seems to come to a dead end.  Even the pants with the barely visible slit pockets seem to extend past the butt flap on the sides.

That I did not. This is just a regular pair of dickies I had laying around and some cheap patch material. It was a test run of sorts to see if I could do it to my liking.

I will simply sew up the back pockets as yeah they extend past the butt flap just a bit.

This is V1 and I’ll be doing a better V2.
