Hey there Scouts! Just wanted to get your opinion on a belt I bought from Christian Bonaire (aka Cucblack). The belt I received has two vacuum forming flaws on each side of the middle belt piece. See pics. When I emailed him after receiving it he said , “ the original screen belts Have this same flaw.” Just wondering if anyone can confirm this and tell me if this will get kicked back for approval? I don’t want to waste my time on it if it’s a not good enough. Thank you for the feedback! DBFDA0F1-10EF-4D3E-84BB-CD233F19441E.thumb.jpeg.f69154d26ad0181cf8977468027114d0.jpeg

I've never paid that much attention to these details on others scout costumes...but now that I'm working on one of my own I would say that most kits I've seen seem have that 'flaw' to some degree.  That being said...I doubt it would be an issue for approval.  I'm guessing that area is just difficult to get perfect with the vacu-forming process.

I'm not near mine right now so can't comment

But have a look at the submissions for lancer and see if they have them
And if they're called out on it

Just an idea

Thanks Paul. Do we have access to see lancer scout submissions? Sorry I’m new to this forum. I’m used to the old .net forums.

The screen used costumes had the same issue. It was from vac forming them with a bend in it. My strider armor has it.

My WTF belt does not have this......

MC,sc,and wtf doesn't have it. It happens because of the way the belt is formed.

The RS props armor also has the same sort of kink at the bend points.

It will not cause any issues for level 2 approval and it certainly shouldn't at level 1 either.

You can see it on the screen used armor below as well.

Thank you all for chiming in! I really appreciate the hasty feedback! I will continue working on it then.

It adds screen accuracy !!! If your belt doesn't have webs between the boxes, or worse still has individual/ seperate boxes it just isn't screen accurate .

In striving for screen accuracy you have to sometimes accept what might be seen as flaws , but are in reality, part of the charm of originality .

In my opinion, Lancer should insist on webs !!!!

To add my 2 cents to this debate... 😉

Yes, many (but not all) original belts had the webbing flaw. It happens when the belt boxes are very close to each other (as in the originals). The reason why some armor makers don't have them is simply because they put the boxes further apart 😉

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the webbing (because I don't like the look and it's a potential cracking point) but I've also never managed to get quite rid of it while still maintaining the original closeness of the boxes.

The cracking just makes it more accurate, right? :)

Nice to see you back, Strider.
