Since i'm having a break from the Shoretrooper i decided to use my printers for another project, and decided on making the Biker Scout. I don't have anything 501st approved yet, but it will be this or the Shoretrooper. I will most likely pick your brains about the soft parts. I was planning on making the armor in fusion 360 as a learning process, but then i found MrPoopie's armor (link here) So i'm going to print MrPoopie's armor instead, the helmet file is from Al3dPropShop (link here). The Printer Setup is: Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus - Will be used for the smaller parts. Creality CR-10s - Will be used to print as big as i can. What its a competition?, i think MrPoopie is stirring things up. 😃 I have a few builds at the same time, so it will take some time. Printing will be done this week, but then it's the fun part with sanding. I have recently started to just go straight for wet sanding the PLA after a print with 400 grit, and you can get it really smooth directly. I'll have to give it a try on some of my parts! My build is going to take a while too. The filament I'm using isn't cheap and I don't have much time aside from weekends to work on things... I'm wet sanding half the face on the helmet, will take some pictures this weekend when i apply some filler primer. I have 2 printers, and i print from i get home from work and over night. And 24/7 on weekends. You're moving along a lot faster than I am, I only have one printer running for the large parts and I'm printing at a smaller layer height than you are on them. The bigger parts are printing at 0,22 layer height, i have started with the chest today on one printer and the other is making the thermal detonator. Both printers can make the bigger parts but the cr-10s gives it a little more quality it feels like. Selle Posted October 25, 2018 Author Share Posted October 25, 2018 A little update since im going away for a few days, i have been sanding away on shoulder, biceps and forearm A little service on my Wanhao Duplicator I3 Plus, nozzle change and PTFE-tub. Filler Primer sprayed on, 2 coats and some sanding between. Some body filler and more sanding. New coat of filler primer. and sanding some more. i want the parts to shine like a mirror before i'm done with the filling and sanding. A overview picture of my hobby room.
