clockworksoldier Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Does anybody out there know of a way to strengthen or reinforce ABS plastic armor and helmets by either using some sort of hard epoxy, resin or fiberglass?
Merlin707 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Depending on the part your wanting to strengthen will require a different technique to strengthen or reinforce. If you’re looking at a basic level then just spare parts of whatever your kit is made of and two part epoxy. Place strips over the seams to build up an extra layer of thickness and apply the epoxy. 1
Gruntsky Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 You can also make up ABS paste, or ABS slurry, with acetone and scrap ABS. It forms a permanent bond with ABS and is also great for fixing cracks and gaps.
Dart Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 A friend of mine used truck liner on the inside of his armour. Hasn't had an issue with cracking yet.
762s Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 i think it also depends on the armor thickness the maker uses. some armors wont crack like others due to thickness. i used thicker abs plastic/ca glue to reinforce several areas of one of my armor kits.
