I was looking at the studio creations version of the Bike scout kit. More specifically the helmet kit. I am 100% sure that I want to get the kit and build it. But I had a concern.

Does the visor area come precut or do i have to cut and sand that myself?

If so what is the recommended tool? I was figuring a dremel or a rotary tool os some sort for the cuts and sanding the rest.

Thanks!

If you're buying the kit, then you'll need to cut out the visor area yourself.

I can tell you the technique I've used to cut visors from the various helmet scout makers --

First, I mark the outline of the visor in pencil, then I use a small drill bit to drill holes just inside where I've made the line. This should allow the inside of the visor to push out pretty easily, but the cut is going to be super jagged.

After that, I use a combination of lexan scissors, emory board, and dremel sanding bit to smooth everything out.

everyones different with how they prep their armor ...

for me ... i draw a pencil line on the inside of the formed mould edge and then i use a new razor blade and exacto knives and fine tune with sandpaper. its easy enough to get close to the line and work your way to it with sandpaper.

some people use a router bit on a dremel, others use dremel with cutoff wheels....

use whatever works best for you and what your comfortable with doing

good luck!

Pretty similar to Chopper and 762s, I marked the visor our on the inside with pencil, then did a rough cut with the dremel cut off wheel and finally sanded it down on a slower speed with the dremel sanding drum.

That’s what I just did tonight on the WTF.

Not sure if you have bought yet or not. but I just did my SC and on the back of the visor it has the outline already there for you. I did a rough cut to get most of the plastic out, then took a sanding wheel to it till I couldn't see the line they created. worked out wonderful!

Likewise, I now own a SC kit and bought the helmet with it. The inside of the face plate was marked and followed that with a drill bit and dremmel, used an exacto knife to get to the harder to sand places and then just sanded it down a bit to smooth out the edges. It wasn't bad at all....probably one of the easiest ones I've done.

So why are you not done yet?

Because I work for a living to afford this blasted hobby.
