WTF Armor Build

Lawless Scout

Recommended Posts

So I picked up a Walt’s Trooper Factory armor set for a killer deal. So I’m starting this thread so I can get feedback on finishing it.

I have a set of SC armor to get approved with while I complete this build.

First up is BOOT HOLSTER.

I need this for my other armor as I want to get it attached to my boots.

So pretty much sketch this as close as possible or is there a pattern available somewhere? I’m looking at other holster and photos to eyeball but thought there might be something more.

Check out some armor builds here on the forums and the gallery section. There's some good reference pictures of the original holster. Also taken in to consideration the WTF holster is a bit bigger than the screen used ones.

Can’t be bigger than the SC one I have! Haha. Hope not anyway.

Can't answer that one for you lol. Yeah sc is a bit on the large size. Strider,Chef, and MC are about the right size. Those three holsters I don't think you get a hyperfirm blaster in them. I know you can't get a hyperfirm in a strider holster. That's just a FYI.

Yeah, totally. I think you'll be just fine once you smooth some of those cuts out with a dremel/emory board. Keep it coming!

I actually re-added pieces above and below and think it looks much cleaner. Now to add in some putty, sand sand sand then paint.

This is the proper spacing for bund, belt and pouches correct?

Try pulling you're belt down a bit, or try pulling the chest and bund up. You can see the bund poking out from the bottom of the belt, which you'd want to avoid. Also, ideally the pouches should rest atop the belt. Just some slight adjustments; you're looking good 😊

Thanks not the final bund. It as to be basically cut in half and resewn. Just trying to make sure spacing is in center is good. Appreciate the feedback.

Lookin good lookin good.

Horizontal spacing on your pouches looks good. As Cheesewoopy said, bring your belt down about an inch to an inch and a half and we can take another look.

Any suggestions on adding some support/ strength to the pieces? Was either thinking some thin but strong foam liner or additional ABS pieces at strategic parts.

For instance I bought a thick plastic pipe from Home Depot and cut it four ways. Was planning to glue a piece inside the bicep to help it keep shape/ form. You can see that below.

Anyone done this?

I have to tailor the bund tomorrow. Cut it down about 4 inches and pick up my cod piece from Chris (and my boots! Giddy!) and then it should all fit and look right. Fingers crossed anyway.

There's no reason you can't do this, but unless you're planning on cranking the elastic down super tight, I'm not sure you'll need it. Personally, I use some velcro on my flight suit to help keep the bicep armor in place, so I don't need to rely on the elastic to keep them from falling down. Otherwise, the return edges on the part pretty much give it enough strength to keep from cracking.

Once place on the bicep that I did reinforce is where I made the cuts to insert the elastic. The slot for the 2" elastic doesn't leave a lot of remaining space at the top and bottom, and I was a bit worried that it would start to crack eventually, so I glued an extra strip of ABS with devcon plastic weld behind the slots before I cut them. It's held up pretty well so far.

Well the SC armor I have isnthucker than the WTF and this is exactly what I thought I might do. I’ll surely be adding the Velcro to the suit to keep everything in place.

Any good posts on weathering I should look at? When I first started I didn’t think I’d like the weathering but realize it is more film accurate and done right can look really wicked!

When it comes to weathering, remember that less is more!

Strider has some great tips in his Lancer build. Also check his quick YouTube video.

Take it slow and steady. Just a little bit goes a long way.

Absolutely. I was cleaning up and playing with my current kit which was already a little weathered.

I sprayed a few quick blasts on one of my knees and got what I thought was a cool look. Seems like it got dirty and I tried to whip it off. I can see the key is to not over think and just do.

The spray can is with me. I am one with the spray can.
