So what should I know for my first troop as a handler. Going this Saturday with buddy. Any stories to share?

I’ve read the survival guide already just thought I’d see what people had to share.

Be sure your troopers stay hydrated and don't pass out from exhaustion

Be sure if any bits fall off their costumes, you scoop them up and try to get them back on

Be sure kids don't try to steal thermal detonators and holstered weapons

Be prepared to be handed people's phones a lot to take pictures of them with the troopers!

If the troopers are okay with it, try on a few of their helmets. Really helps you understand what range of vision and blind spots they have.

Also, if you think someone needs a break from trooping, be pretty firm with them. We all love to troop but it's no fun passing out from exhaustion. They will thank you for it later even if they get annoyed at the time.

Us Scouts can see just fine of course, it's those Stormtroopers that are pretty much blind. And deaf. And about as agile as a bank vault. :)

On my first handler job, I squired for a coupla guys and helped them gear up, making sure their costumes were strapped up comfortably, evened out, and generally neat in appearance. Throughout the day, I would help them readjust straps, guide them around obstacles, and place their blasters in their hands every time they needed to pick them up for pictures. Lol they also needed to be made aware when civilians try to get their attention from behind. Being blind and agile as a bank vault is not an exaggeration.

I think that's awesome and it gives you valuable insight of what it's like to be in armor. Seeing it from the outside gives you experience of the "zones" around a trooper that you can pay attention to when you're on armor. In my case most of the folks I troop with are TKs so I really am a Pathfinder for them because my vision is so much better than theirs. This is good experience and good on you for getting engaged with the garrison!

All great ideas. I’d like to try on the buckets to get a better idea for sure.

The last thing I need is to have a trooper pass out!! I’m a tour manager for bands and on one of the first big runs had a club that was extremely hot and an older musician who did just this thing. So hyper aware now about heat.

Exactly. My neighbor is an old friend who finally got approved for 501st and it’s really lit a fire on my ass to get my rear in gear!

So I was thinking either just a black shirt with the text or an actual photo printed shirt with the below image. Too much? Too soon?! 😜

Every time I read that word the way you have it spelled, all I hear in my head is Arnold.
