Chef Posted January 20, 2018 Share Posted January 20, 2018 It is with a heavy heart and the deepest regret that I have to report the sudden and unexpected passing of our Executive Officer, my dear friend... brother, Jim Griffin. Jim sadly passed away on Monday due to diabetic complications. Jim was a generous and kind man always willing to help and spent countless hours selflessly doing all those behind the scenes web-master stuff for both us here on the Pathfinders and over on our sister Detachment, Spec Ops. His kindness and dedication were an inspiration to us all. His devotion to these detachments without any thought or reward for himself is without equal and not only shall the Biker Scout Network and Spec Ops be lesser dimmed places by his passing, but the world in general too. Jim is truly a great man and we shall feel his loss immensely. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to Jim’s wife, Darleen, his family and friends. We can only share in their grief and devastation at this terrible news. You have been taken too early but your legacy shall live on forever in our hearts. You will be remembered. Jim was such a friendly guy who helped me out in the beginning of my scout built.. he was always there to give feedback and to motivate to continue the built.. he will be missed! my sincerest condolonces to his family and friends, also on behalf of the Dutch Garrison. Certainly a right hand man when I ran this detachment for all those years, always there willing to help. TK8271 Rogue Trooper Posted January 20, 2018 Share Posted January 20, 2018 This saddens me greatly and is terrible news, Jim was a gentleman and a great person he was always there for me and helped me when rewriting the CRL for the Shoretrooper he always made time for you no matter what. Like he did for so many others, Jim was instrumental in helping me with my build, chiming in constantly on my WIP thread and steering me in the right direction, I couldn't have made it without his tireless help. He is who I think of when I tell everyone how incredible the Pathfinders detachment is ---- just kind, supportive, helpful, and so friendly. I'm very, very sad to learn he's no longer with us. One of the nicest guys i knew from BSN and would do anything to help out a fellow trooper... he will be greatly greatly missed. And as always, Jim was the kind of guy that always had a kind word or made you feel welcome. The world is a lot less brighter now. And I will always cherish our friendship. My heart is truly broken with this sad news. I just don’t have words to express how I feel about this. His friendship and love for this community will be greatly missed. Scubacat Posted January 20, 2018 Share Posted January 20, 2018 This is some of the hardest news I have ever heard since being a member of the 501st and a proud member of both Detachments. Jim is one of the most encouraging people I knew and this seriously breaks my heart. He was and always will be a huge inspiration to me. These are from his exact words: “You have been a big help over the years at Spec Ops. And you always show your SO pride. I admire that about you and I'm proud to be with you in Spec Ops.†When he told me this, I thought I could jump over the moon in my armor. He is one of the reasons I try to troop about 75 events a year and why I say Spec Ops or nothing. I am going to miss him so very much. He wanted me to finish my shoretrooper and join him over here in Pathfinders. He is and will always be such an amazing inspiration to me and others. I am happy that I was able to meet him in person. Both Detachments loose a great man, a great friend, and a great trooper. Buckets off for you Jim.
