i start with your first pic and work my way down with some tips/pointers ...

then below i will add some photoshoped reference pics of what i point out

pic 1:

cant tell if this is a bad pull or if the indent is where wtf wants you to cut ... looking at pic 4 the right side visor doesnt show in the pic but, does the right side have the same indents in it? if so then this would be more to where you want to cut to.

also, looking at pic 4 it does look like your visor is to far forward with the bolt area to line up correctly and it looks like you could stand to trim the visor back to get it line up in the bolt area on the side.

pic 2:

that is way to wide and you can see it in pic 4 ... you want the visor to be be as flush with the helmet on the side

pic 3:

i wouldnt cut any more on that .. about 1/2" is ideal .. start sanding and smoothing out that edge

pic 4:

looking at this it looks like the indent i mentioned in pic 1 is indeed close to where you need to cut ... the visor needs to come in and back

pic 5:

that looks good ... maybe should have left the extra material to make a return edge but, thats just personal preference

just be sure to have the lower part the same angle as the visor

pic 6:

make this side look like pic 5 ... the extra material there is what i mentioned in pic 5 to make a return edge

like in pic 5 .. just be sure to have the lower part the same angle as the visor

pic 7:

i can see in the reflection of the bend that there is a indent in the top and reflection is close to where your cut line is suppose to be

pic 8:

no need to touch a thing there .. that is your gluing edge

pic 9:

no need to touch a thing there .. that is your gluing edge

here is my reference pics:

pic 1 -- this is what looks like what needs to be cut off

1mchrm9.png

pic 2 -- this is what looks like what needs to be cut off

srsyEWr.png

pic 4 -- visor needs to go back and width of the visor needs to be close to what your helmet width(w) is

Wz9uGi9.png

pic 5 -- make the left look like the right

ybzjbPY.png

pic 7 -- see the reflection and indent marked near the yellow arrows? this shows me that the visor has slight indent to what needs to be cut off

o7EkeTq.png

start with 1 half of the visor and work it to the helmet. your trying to get the bolt area to line up and the outside of the rear of the visor to be flush with the helmet at the side above the ear area. when 1 half of the visor is correct, do the same on the other side.

do not cut the center of the visor overlap till you have the width and placement of the visor correct. once your happy with the way the visor sits to the helmet then cut the center overlap of the visor.

just take you time and slowly cut the visor to fit to the helmet. dont glue anything and test fit alot ...

hope this helps you make some progress

good luck!

Thank you. Walt’s videos highlight the continuous edge :). The pulls did not have guidelines added so thank you very much for the added pics. The visor part still needs trimmed at the top edge to help the visor lay flat. My concerns were the visor trim lines for the back edge and alignment to the visor. Thank you again for your guidance. Will keep the pics coming. ;)

  • 9 months later...

I think I’m ready now to finally finish this bucket. Put it down last few months. Had to come to terms with it not fitting perfect. Not the best oil but think I got it as close as it’s going to be.

How did yours come out?
