netslave Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 The Kama appears to be a heavily weathered black canvas material. Each "flap" is around 12-14" or larger. Here's pic of the back, and a pattern provided by Haui in the German Garrison. 4
Obey Wann Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 Thanks for (re-) posting! I'll be using that for Torri's and my builds. One more thing to order, or make... 1
italianjob85 Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 This pattern and information is not correct. I don't want to sound mean or rude its just the situation at hand. I'll be posting something very shortly. Those who know me on this site can vouch that I am serious about the kama information and pattern.
netslave Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Feel free to post. I'll edit the original post as needed.
bone Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Interested as well ... Do you have any new photos?
netslave Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 One thing I think most people miss is the slight slope from the back to the front. The back of the kama is slightly higher than the front so the pattern would need to reflect that. But other than that, I'm not sure what else would need to be changed. 1
netslave Posted November 3, 2016 Author Posted November 3, 2016 Evidence for this is in how the weave of the material lays compared to how it's cut. Here's a rough illustration. If it were square, the weave would run parallel to the bottom hem, not at an angle. 1
haui Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Hi Netslave i think i know what you are talking from but i can not open your Pic
netslave Posted November 4, 2016 Author Posted November 4, 2016 Thanks. tinypic.com seems to have dies temporarily.
haui Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 As you can see in the first Post i changed the layout. You are right with the 2 length :-)
italianjob85 Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Hello folks! Sorry for the delay was out of town these past few days. So I can't post the pattern because of some legal reasons but i can post my first prototype that I made. I am sorry if that's an issue. But here is the actual look of the kama. Mind you the color and material is not truly accurate but the pattern and shape is. More to come! If you want more details you can always PM for info. -Enjoy 4
henselmonster Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Any vendors doing these yet? Can't say I'm great with a sewing machine. 1
haui Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Hi nice work, can you post a pic from the inside? I think the Shape looks good but the size is not correct i think.
italianjob85 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Any vendors doing these yet? Can't say I'm great with a sewing machine. I am currently a vendor for them! Hi nice work, can you post a pic from the inside? I think the Shape looks good but the size is not correct i think. The inside? Like the backside? Also yeah my prototype was a little too short on me. All of the newer kamas go past the knee by 2" and around the hip bone by an inch. They will also overlap a little bit with the shin guards. My new material is coming in this week folks! I should have another prototype soon. 1
haui Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Here with my pattern The 2 Straps are missing :-)
italianjob85 Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 The inside? Like the backside? Yes :-) Sorry for the delay! But here is a photo of the inside of the kama. Also your kama you made, the shape is off. The panels are not rectangles. 4
Obey Wann Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 OK, this seems to be confirming how we see things in the Mountain Garrison. I used CE mannequin pics, plus the action figure, and lots of CE mannequin pics. How I see it: Measure the rear of the kama to the top of your calf armor/greaves. Measure the front of the kama to the lower part of the upper calf strap height. On the back of the kama, go straight down from belt line, along the spine, to the bottom of the crotch. We are taking each half of the kama from the spine (center line) to the outer edge of the wearer's hips.
Obey Wann Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Here is a photo album, it's public. It has my notes and references. I used this heavily: See how the back stops at the top of the greave, and the front goes to approximately the bottom of the stop strap: NOT rectangular: 1
Obey Wann Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 My wife is now 90% complete. It still needs Velcro and grommets and she needs to add the webbing straps. I'd love feedback on this. This is for Scubacat. She starts on mine tomorrow. We are going for basic approval. 1
Nacho Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 That Kama looks great!! Glad to see my reference guide being used 1
