The Neck Seal appears to be a rubbery type of material. Black in color. Apparently, the vertical ribs are part of a bib and aren't part of the shirt. Although, some people are making the neckseal/bib as part of the undershirt.

The neck seal is brown (as confirmed by someone who wore the costume on the film set), and is part of the whole upper vest. It's not a separate part.

Yes but you will not see if it a single Part or part of the Shirt :-) And so it is more comfortable for me to wear.

Call me crazy, but I don't see brown here. Maybe if we can get a pic from the costume that had a brown neck seal. I do agree that it should be part of the whole, but I've just heard conflicting reports. in the end, it shouldn't matter as long as the look is the same.

Hey, I'm only going from the research that's out there... I'd have put it at Anthracite grey myself...

But that's what has been said and I've no reason to contradict it, considering the source.

Especially, as part of my 'leather-like' escapades, I have got samples of a very dark brown leatherette (don't ask why!). So it is possible.

What I can say is that the lighting at CE3 was atrocious (I was there...) and going by any picture under those conditions is just a road to heartbreak central.

Just as an illustrative point on colour and pictures....

Here's an example from my other major passion. The 'Aliens' Colonial Marine.

These are the same colours believe it or not. And neither of them look like they do in the flesh (I have daily access to an original).

So never trust a computer screen.

But feel free to draw what ever conclusions you feel necessary, I've given all the information I know.

But the neck seal shown here isn't affected by the lighting at ce3. Since the whole neck is in shadow from the harsh, terrible lighting, it's only affected by the flash, which if anything, brightens it up. I'm not doubting your man saw a brown neck seal somewhere, but until we have visual proof, it can't really be used as reference for us. We need to be the source of the information, and prove, with reference material, that we're correct, or we can't require something be a certain way.

Looking the posted pictured, its brown, but its a DEEEEEEP brown, almost like old warn work boots.

I think its the vertical nature of the ribs fabric thats causing the confusion. It's black.

In the pic at the top; the brown is quite clear in contrast to the black of the chinstrap and the black webbing.

So the question now is: if I go with the dark brown will it be approved since the CRL states differently?

Sorry to keep posting on this. I've been having a discussion on Facebook with some of my friends and one posted this:

"Black. The trick is it's a dye issue. There are red based blacks and green/blue based blacks. With bad concentrations of dye, with weathering, or with fading, red based blacks can appear brownish.

With graytones, warm grays are brownish, cold grays are blueish."

That actually makes a lot of sense

We are going to allow dark brown
