Heatshock
in preparation for changes in CRL; I thought I would have a play at this simple black elastic 1st installed like on other costumes some styrene sheet and foam.glued together installed BEHIND the strap which got me thinking, it actually looks different from a normal clone strap in other ways which looks more like this Screen cap - the grey bits are wided than ur typical clone elbow straps
Death Recon
Looks good Nate, what are you using for greeb material? I really wish BC's armour had come with grey greebs, gonna make a bit more work but it is what it is.
Heatshock
most of the makers wont cast in grey. grey is often a mix of white resin with black dye,so difficult to be consistent. even MB greebs werent grey mate for the straps, the base was a thin sheet of styrene. the grey parts just foam or more styrene id say grey primer with lack weathering/misting should do mate nate

Grumpy
Hey Nate...I'll take those off your hands. You don't need them.
Death Recon
I'm gonna use a product called "Plasti-Dip" it comes in can or spray. When it's dry it just rubber, very flexible, basicly bonds to anything too
Heatshock
I've used plastidip in scratch builds, its like latex in a can I'd use the rattle can though but if you are trying to save cash, primer is enough Grumpy - those literally too me 20 min to do! will put it all together and see what you guys think ;D Nate
miqt
Nate, Can you take a look at the wording in the CRL regarding this strap. To me it reads like there are 2 seperate grey straps. The SA part is a wider than standard clone strap that is black in the center and grey on both sides. Thanks Bro.
Death Recon
I it was... Lvl 1: it's one piece, black center and grey outer strips... For Lvl 2: it's just 2 grey strips... Or one complete piece made to look like it had a hallow center
miqt
But on the screen seen theres clearly an black center to the strap. Why would something non screen accurate be lv2? It should be lv 0. Im not gettin it.
Heatshock
cos like other clone costumes, the lvl2 is what is seen on the 3d render eg grey line under the gm eyes, neck trim on bacara. other costumes use ths too, the atat helmet is white on screen so its gven lvl 1, but the vtual prop was/is grey, given lvl 2. the original crl was written intentionally to be vague, as we only had one level of clearance and to accomodate the ingle strap versus dual strap camps. Adie1979
I'm looking to upgrade my fore arm armour as well from the usual black elastic strap. How have others created the grey straps for clearance?
comm tech
I have mine painted grey, but the paint does stick to the rubber strap. It does however stick to the armor it rubs against and the under suit, LOL Eventually I am going to make some molds and cast mine in grey
